On Sunday August 1, 2004 Authorize.Net experienced a large scale distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. This attack led to a brief suspension of payment gateway processing services as well as disabling the Authorize.Net Web site.
Authorize.Net engineers were able to quickly minimize the business disruption and restore transaction processing by employing a number of industry standard DDoS defense strategies. Authorize.Net is currently working with Federal law enforcement officials to identify the origin of these attacks.
Please be assured that no merchant or customer data was compromised at any time during the attack.
