MSRP $1150

There will be 25 available late next week with pictures available early in the week. Pictures will be online at www.thegearbag.com

The first batch will consist of 5 guns of each color:

Those are not fade anodized....The first color is the color of the main body, regulator and a few other parts, then the grip frame will be black along with a few other contrasting parts. Maybe you can get serial number 1.

all raw and unfinished products will look like that. i think they did a great job but im more for subtle almost meaning full milling so that doesnt strike my fancy, but great job to whoever did that!

Wow the next Shocker. And here I was thinking how can they make a Shocker even uglier and more uncomfortable. This is my answer.

wow that looks terrible......

not all raw/unfinished products look bad....take a look at all the raw prototype Roguefactor or Logic products, or even the Xmags before anno.

thats a really bad picture of a warped sports dark shocker...

i dunno why it would be called the heavy metal.

i dunno why it would be called the heavy metal.

It's called the "Heavy" metal shocker because the tech who designed it is a guy from warped sports here near Chicago named "Heavy"

I think its fugly. And not just cause this is a raw specimen. Cleaning up the finish with some nice anno wont fix the rakish lines. To me the milling looks primitive, add a little corrosion and it would look like something out of a "Mad Max" movie.

I think that's the point. I beleive the name "Heavy Metal" refers to the comic/movie of the same name. If that's the case, the gun fits in perfectly with the theme of the weapons used.

I still don't like it...

So the market strategy is to evoke the image of the large breasted cartoon woman riding winged creature wielding this marker to help sales?

Umm now that I look at it a second time a little more closely. I notice the subtle details, thatare not there. What are those thingd on the side supposed to be, gills? It is an ugly gun. Who ever buys this gun as some major ego issues.

The Dark Shocker is just a Heavy Metal Shocker (designed by Heavy D of Warped Sportz Tinley Park) with Function parts on it.

i can't wait to see it after anno

and how many guns actually look that good raw?? sure some do, but this thing will look much better with anno

wow....again i ask, am i the only one that really likes this thing?? . . .

Nah, I like it too.

At least the body. Don't care much for the trigger guard, but overall I think it looks pretty good.

I'd like to see the folks who called it dremal-tastic actually take a die grinder or dremal tool, and turn out something that looks even half that good.

Everybody is so jaded any more, nothing seems to be good enough.

I dig it, but I know how much work that guy has to have in it, so I wouldn't flame on it even if I thought it was fugly.

(This is also why I am a bit hesitant to try my hand at turning out a whole custom marker . . . . what if no body likes them? )

fire1811
08-13-2004, 03:32 PM
the dark shocker and heavy metal are the same gun.

Heavy D from warped tinley is the designer.

i have seen the proto in person and think it looks good and will look even better with anno on it.

i guarantee if this exact milling was on a AGD product 90% of the people that said it was ugly would have one in a week.(no need to post and tell me "not me")

but as with everything else its all i what YOU like. IMO i like it

I love the big frame. It is going to be a hot looking gun. I am interested to hear some reviews once people actually get to shoot it.

fire1811
08-13-2004, 04:16 PM
yes its the same gun
the milling is just a demo. production will have smoother finish.

im really surprised gun manufactures even release early production pics of any gun. people seem to think what they see, even in the earliest stages is exactly what the finished product is going to look like.

Still ugly. Im sorry but that body just doesn't flow. If he was going for the "Heavy Metal" look he should of went with more rigid lines, but instead tried to to do both with smooth curves and abrupt endings like that mishaped D in the back. Plus the slits just mess it even further. :( But there are a few highlights I do like, The gripframe and everything from the feedneck forward.

Here are my thoughts on it:

I like the front half of the body. It has a sort of organic feel to it which appeals to me.
I do not like the back half of the body. That "engraving" looks amateurish.
I like the trigger frame - it's kinda cool and aggressive looking.
I like the 10* ASA. I've been wondering when people would start making them.

Would I buy it? Perhaps if they changed the back half of the body. Then I would buy it USED. But not new (won't give my sheckles to Smart Parts!)

I partially agree with Coolhand. It is tough to impress the crowds today. However, I kind of feel that when a company with such an impressive resume as WSZ puts out a marker, it's got to expect a lot more heat than most other companies. ESPECIALLY with what Smart Parts has been up to lately.

http://www.thegearbag.com/pix/guns/smartparts/redheavymetal.jpg
Trigger guard is hideous. The body needs more curve on the top, it's too straight like a tube. The milling needs to match a little more, theres a bit of curves here and a bit of straight milling there, needs to be more consistent. Just my opinions.

Mister Sinister
08-14-2004, 01:56 AM
Seeing it in anno didnt really change my opinion... It still looks primitive... the lines of the back half just dont flow.

SpecialBlend2786
08-14-2004, 02:46 AM
I actually like the new trigger frame/guard. I agree it looks better after anno. I still like Nasty and Octane shockers better

How does the snatch grip mount to the shocker body? Is it secured with the grip-frame screw, or does it have its own screw and hole tapped? This is the best looking shocker so far; its the only one that actually breaks from the traditional lay-out (angled grip, snatch, unique trigger frame, etc.).

fire1811

if i remember correctly it is part of the frame. i think its built in but im not positive

Na. The owners of Country Club Paintball (CCP) also own Warped Sportz Tinley,Il and the one in Merriville, In. CCP is my home field. This is a huge thing for them so I thought I would see what AO thinks.

I heard that this gun will only be sold by them in their 2 stores. pbgear can't carry them. This is just a rumor I heard.

My first impression from the unpolished unannoed pics what is was fugly. Just like most proto markers. After holding it and getting a close look at it I think they did an great job with the milling and anno. They get a big http://www.jayloo.com/files/smilies/biggthumpup.gif. The Heavy Metal version has all TOP-O-THE-LINE parts, alll UPS.
