I have no sound on my computer. None, at all. When i go to my Sound Card option at the device Manager it says registery files are currupted. Ive re-installed Windows 2000NT 3-4 times because of computer virus' but still no sound. After every new installation i have ZERO sound. What could be wrong, any suggestions? Or would it just be worth $30-$50 for a mid-ranged sound card?

did you try reinstalling just the drivers for the soundcard?

if the drivers doesn't work then uninstall the card itself (don't reinstall) and restart your computer. your auto hardware detect wizard will find in during start up and reinstall it.....should be as good as new

get AVG free edition or ad-aware or spybot s&d to take care of the virus. but even after youve done that and scanned, go into "run" in the start menu and type "msconfig", then click the startup tab. if you see something that looks like a virus or something you dont want ur computer to start up with, then unclick its little box and restart ur comp. as for the sound card, it sounds like you need to just re-install the drivers.
