That is an old J&J nickel-plated brass barrel. What would be cool is if it has the strait rifling down the bore. They came with all sorts of different muzzle break patterns. They are truly great barrels if you match the paint right. It's just a shame they are not made anymore.

I've got an old-school J&J 12" Brass with the straight rifling and a multi-hole muzzle break. Heavy as hell, but it shoots very nicely. Makes a very satisfying "Ding!" when you shoot it. :)

Unless it's something way off from what they used to sell, it's not Stainless and it's not Nickle Plated either. It's a brass barrel that's been hardchrome plated. I have a 8" with no muzzle porting (mmm LOUD).

I have a couple that are brass and hard cromed also...

and a few that are stainless, oddly the weight is not that much different.
