I'll post a tut. soon, this is using adobe photoshop, I'm a kid so this tutorial isn't the greatest but I think it'll help. It's Eatems gun, Blackdogs image host, adobe photoshops program and me who wrote it. Here's how I learned how to fade guns http://www.tiemdesign.com/howto/2003/April/PSCustGrads/default.asp

Sorry if these images are too big, I just want people to be able to see the wording and stuff. Go far down more

The gun I photoshopped for the tutorial isn't too great but you guys should be able to figure out how to do it with this.

Ok, first, use the magnetic lasso tool, you need to know how to set it up properly, but if you can do that, then you're set! You'll get a good clean featherd outline of the gun.

Next, instead of the method shown here for changing the color, I suggest using the color burn tool, as it "burns" the selected color or gradient to the lines and shadowed areas.

Here's a few quick photochopped Cyborgs I did using the color burn tool:

When my last webhost cut me off, they deleted all of my PS folders :( I had a few posts her on AO of custom colored karta's, dallaras, chords, and had some sick custom faded destructive customs vikings.... All was lost however :(

Wow that's sooo much nicer, btw the color burn one is alot nicer but I couldn't figure out how to lighten it up.

I tried it here with fragteks images, I didn't cut off some parts so the whoe left side is like that

Turn your opacity down a bit... it looks best between 50-70%

Slade, thanks man, thats the best compliment I've receieved yet :) I really really really wish I still had all the karta, dallara, and dc vikes I did, they were even better... Totally the dopest work I've ever done.

The color burn tool is up in the top menu bar in the drop down menu when you have a tool selected such as the gradient tool.

Are you sure you used color burn? It looks more like its a standard color overlay. Hit me up with the original pic....

I think it doesn't look like it's color burned because I did something before it.

Hmm I can't get the burn to look as good on darker images but if its lighter I can get it to work fine. Also it doesn't look as good cause its a gif image.

Southpark,

If you select the "subtract from selection" tool when you have your lasso selected, you can take out the parts you don't want to have the burn go over (ie. detent, cyborg logo...)

What do you have your burn opacity set at?

Southparkrocks
08-21-2004, 05:56 PM
60 opacity, I know about the subtract thing but I was just in a hurry because I had to eat dinner. Another thing color burn doesn't look as good as a .gif file. I just tried another color burning and it looks a lot better as jpg

Something like this? Fragtek could do a better job by a lot.

The pic you gave was pretty low quality, that is the only problem...
