Yeah, there's a large difference. If you cheap out on a gaage, it will either spring on ya and then not tell the correct pressure, it'll blow and you'll just have to replace it, or you'll crack the cheap glass gauge front.

Invest in a nice microgauge, I suggest the MacDev gauges. I've purchased cheap ones before and they were nothing but a pain in my arse and never told the turth when the did work.

there are two different quality gauges. yes, the dye, macdev etc gauges are nicer than the $500 ones. however, there are "knock-off" hight quality ones that are slightly cheaper than hte name brands. Ive always used them with good success.

Best guages are the ones that come on stock timmys. Arscroft I think they are called. They rock. I went thru 3 bob long guages on my impulse, those are horrible.

Do you mean Ashcroft gauges?

Ashcroft's are probably the best you can get.

My macdev guage blew about 4 minutes after putting pressure into it.

While we're on the subject of guages... Lets say I wanted to put a guage on my asa, do I need to teflon around the threads or not. It seems like common sense to tape it, but you never know I guess. The reason I ask is I think I remember reading a post by someone on here saying that it didn't need it when you replace a guage on an air tank, but I could very well be wrong.

Why wouldn't you. It's threaded just like any other air connection.

Tape it.

And what about burst disks, just curious incase I ever need to replace one.

youre thinking about replacing the reg on an hpa tank. the pressure will seal it, so tape is not needed. in fact, tape or threadlock is dangerous because it may cover a venting hole for when you unscrew the reg, making it shoot off.

Yep, it's different if it is on the tank vs the ASA.

I was referring to the ASA, such as a duckbill or drop arrangement.
