There are really two types of pumps. Sheridan based and Nelson based.

Sheridan:
PGP
Sniper (1, 2 or 3) (ie. "pump" Autococker)
All the old PMI/Sheridan pump
Palmer pumps

Nelson:
Phantom
Trracer (hammer, tagmaster, etc.)
Lapco (Grey Ghost, etc..)

There was such thing as a pumpMag, but it's not really a standard pump type valve. There are also a few other valve types, but the ones listed above are the most common. As for which one is better, they are both equally as good. The nelson valve is a little simpler as there are less parts, but that is not to say the Sheridan design is complicated. Also, the list above is not the only guns with these valve types, it's 4am and i am tired and not putting a lot of thought into the list:)
