Can a gun be re-anodized a different color? Say you have an aluminum gun/part that is black and you want it blue. Does all the black have to be stipped off somehow? Or does the new color just go over the old color?

An anodized finish would need to be removed first.
Anodizing is basically causing aluminum oxide to build and trap a dye in it.

would removing anodize be 'cathodizing' it?

i don't actually know, just going on my basic electronics knowledge.

You will have to have old anodizing removed before any aluminum part can be reanodized.

You may want to contact PK Selective Metal Coating, from what ive heard, they are pretty good at what they do.
