my friends have had bad experiences with:
lapco bigshots
anything 32*
all of the GTA barrels

I've used:
J&J ceramic
flatline
friend's stiffi

if you've got the money, a stiffi is prolly the best choice. tippys get heavy, a stiffi barrel will help you out. if you've got even more money and a hankering for range, the flatline straight up owns.

and if you're a cheaparse, get the J&J. it's like $35 shipped on ebay and it works well enough - a huge upgrade from stock and better than most other '98 barrels.

flatlines r gay.. depends on how much your looking to spend. cp an j&j's are the best low end, id say ultralight or aa for mid range or freak, pipe, scepter, cp kit for high end

Give us a price range and we can give you a better answer...

If you want to go no-holds-barred on a price I suggest a Stiffi, Ti Boomer, CP 2-pc, or a Lapco Snapshot.

Lapco Bigshot. hands down the best barrel i have shot on my model 98. i think i have broken 1 ball in 5 years with it, and it shot clean in 2-3 shots after that.

Hammerhead, Stiffi, Ultralight in about that order. If you want a high priced mid quality barrel buy something from sp.

If you want a 1 piece barrel, defently go with a lapco. They make the best. The runner up for that would be J&J, they make nice barrels. The ceramics are pretty popular. Then maybe a stiffi but I've never tried one and they are kind of expensive.

Flatline's aren't 'gay'.

Lapco. I used a BigShot on my 98. I used an AutoSpirit and a BigShot on my twistlock Mag. Now I use a Snapshot for my E-Mag, and for my Cocker, and for my RT ULE Mag.

See a pattern?

my friend's bigshot was bored *way* out, pretty much every paint known to man would drop straight through it. el cheapo walmart afterburner and some of nelson's paint worked, but not often.
I've stayed away from lapco's stuff since then - nobody around here has spare lapco barrels for me to test out so they'll prolly never manage to redeem themselves.
