So I was digging through stuff and I found my 1998 Smart Parts Catalog. And for laughs I thumbed through it, and found the Magic Box! FINALLY! So I decided this is as good a day to update as any, and threw it up on my site. So for ALL of you that have EVER wondered about Smart Parts, here's a "Magic Box" mod, explained.

I'll bite my tongue, I think...

Now I'm no art major, but is that Magic Box just the UGLIEST Thing hanging off the side of an Automag? The fun part is that paintball players BOUGHT it!!!!

Oh, and their "Smart Expansion Chamber" explained too :

I think I just heard the Tinkerers Guild fall on the floor laughing....

I've got more stuff, I'll be scanning it and putting it in my tyger.us website in the future. You can see these ads, as well as full page versions of the images, at http://www.tyger.us/paintball/oldschool/sp (at least 'till they sue me...) Meanwhile, enjoy.

Wow, good find. I remember exactly where I was in college when I got that Smart Parts catalog. I also remember sitting down and hashing out which Mag I wanted to buy then, although all of my choices didn't include the ugly Magic Box. I did get the 8 Hole Mod on my first Mag though. ;)

Good times!

Lemme get out the catalog here...

The "Send us your gun for a magic box" mod, THAT cost $120, including the 8 hole mod! If you wanted the reg it cost $350. $60 for an "8 hole mod".

Hey cool stuff tyger... I was at the agd factory last tuesday and doing some busy work to work off the hospitality that roman extended me in my day of waiting. Anyhow during this day I was scraping old valves and one of them happened to have this damn magic box on it. What a damn hunk of junk!

btw the reason it says "Do not attempt to remove" is cause all that black peice does is hold the craptastic 2 tubes of uselessness firmly away from each other. The forward tube is basicly just a expansion chamber for the dump chamber and the back tube does nothing more than supply something to stabalize that dangerious peice to.

it LOOKS like the SP hybrid of an Armson barrel and their SP rifling.

The barrel on the last pic is a SP Venturi.

A friend of mine uses one on his phantom. Shoots decent, extremely quiet.
