I think you are referring to the twistlock assembly. That's most likely your problem, and the only one I can think of.

no if anything you may scratch the rail, just be careful and take your time

DUDE dont hit it with hammer

Look at the bottom of the rail for a allen head
Unscrew it and it will come out

NO HAMMER

Flip the rail over. take a hammer, and hit the metal peice sticking out! and then, ick up the metal peice from the floor, put it back into the rail, and hit it back out again. Hammering things is fun :D

When the rail is off , on the front bottom of the rail you will see the twistlock sticking out where it protruded into the tragger frame.

Get a nail and hammer. Turn the rail over on a flat surface leaving room for the twistlock to come out. Place the end of the nail(or punch of you have real tools) on the twistlock and knock the heck out of it a time or two with a hammer. And as flyingasian put it "pick it up off the floor"......

Here is a tip instread of a hammer use a table clamp.
Here is how I did mine.
Step 1) wrap you body in belt (cloth or leather does not matter. This will reduce or even eliminate scratched to the rail)
Step 2) Put the rail and twist lock assembly between the two sides. (This will push the TLA out part way. It is better the a hammer for no scratches and it is more precise.)
Step 3) with the TLA partially out get a channel lock pliers and pull it out. (Getting it out the rest of the way is easy from here.)
Step 4) Put your dad's tools away he might yell at you for leaving them out. (My dad never remembers this part.)

The allen key will do nothing except loosen or tighten the tension on the spring that holds the pin up. You won't remove it that way. Turn the rail upside down and hammer it. If you have a press of some sort, those work too.

I would try and "punch" it out, using something like a screwdriver and a hammer. It should just pop out.

Yes, the setscrew does nothing for taking it out. it just holds the spring and pin in. To be honest, I usually just take the rail, holding it upright and smack the bottom of the twistlock assem. on a table until it pops out. Once it's loose, it will just pull out.

You do have to punch and hammer most of them out. Many are in there VERY good. And it take a good deal of wacking to get it to move. Solid straight blows. Not light tapping with a light hammer. I use a big plastic deadblow hammer for this. It will pop out. Heavy hammer and good punch. Lots of towels on the bench and a steady hand. Don't give up. Some are pressed in tighter than others. It will and MUST drive out.

This goes in tech by the way. Moving.
