Cats.

Dogs almost never kill when domestic. But my cats are a different story. They're the most efficent mice killers in my house.

By the way my dog makes any bird, lizard, squirrel etc. think twice before coming in our yard.

Dogs become part of your family. And whether or not most of us use them for it, dogs are capable of doing quite a lot of work.

Cats

Cats have more personality, I've never been around any two cats that acted alike. Some of their personality traits piss me off, but I like the fact that they just want to do they're own thing sometimes. Dogs just give they're loyalty away freely, you have to earn the loyalty from a cat and I respect that more.

Dogs are to subservient. Every dog I ever had I loved, but they were all just different sized versions of each other personality wise.
