I need some good recording and/or editing software that will run on Windows XP.

I want to record a few songs on my guitar but need to be able to record for more than 45 second or whatever the windows one is... Plus I'll need to be able to add a few layers of sound (tracks) on top of each other. (Vocals, 2 seperate guitar parts) It doesn't have to be "free" but it has to at least have a trial version. I won't buy anything unless I can see what it can do full steam.

Thanks :)

All depends on what you are using as your input. Also depends on how much money you want to spend, also depends on how many "features" you are looking for.

SoundForge and SAW are my two favorite. SAW is old, but a great multi-track recorder. You can also find it cheap usually. SoundForge is more expensive and has ALOT of features.
