View Full Version : fan for a profiler?

naturally, v-force has decided not to produce a fan for their goggles yet, so i was wondering if anyone has done anything on their own about this. Primarily, has anyone used either a jt or dye fan in a profiler to any degree of success? otherwise, has anyone used a home fashioned one? if so, tell me how to make one come together. thanks!

Back when I had a mask that didn't offer thermal lenses I made my own. Just use a 25x25mm computer fan and solder a 9v connector and a switch to it, then just use zip ties to hold it all together. Look at www.buyextras.com for a few of their 25x25 fans, you can use a 12v model and run it off the 9v battery.

Some guy down here installed a Vortex fan on his Profiler. He "altered" (as in a few cuts) the upper goggle frame ('nuttin special, really) and he was set. It worked great for him.

thanks big time for the info.
unfortunately, i checked both of the links to fans and neither have them in stock.
i know that it is a 25mm fan that i want, but they seem to be available in a number of thicknesses.
do you know of someplace that would have the ones you used?
THANKS!!!

Sounds about right. Show us a link and we would have a better idea.

Just put one of the jt vortex fans in mine. Works good, not very hard to mod to make it fit. I will get some pictures of it after I find my digi cam

my advice, go to Radioshack. do some lookin around... buy a 12vDC fan, the small one, its like a little over an inch long/wide and... buy a toggle switch, buy a 9v battery connector... zip tie the fan to the mask, connect the ground wires together... solder the power wires to the toggle switch (should be 3 prongs, 1 end on outside prong, 1 end on middle prong), plug in your battery and turn it on :)

this costs around $20, love radioshack.

pushes more than enough air, and is remarkably quiet.... love computer fans :)

Radioshack that doesnt sell the small 12vDC's? :wow: wow, what kinda radioshack is that, those things sell like crazy, for a number of different uses, mainly computer stuff, but work awesomely for mask fans

your local radioshack stinks, tell them i said that :tard:

errr. dunno what to say asside from tryin an out of town radioshack lol, otherwise spend the however much ordering and make a JT or DYE fan work for it. :bounce:

I cannot find small enough fan's either. Radioshack has nothing under 40mm and niegher of the links in these threads have anything under 40mm either. If that one dude found some, please let me know where.

O sorry for being stupid. Should I get a 12v or 5v? Would a cheap 9v battery burn out a 5v fan?

Why you need a fan? ... doesnt those sprays you use on the windshield on cars work?

I used a single 12v fan and ran it off of a 9v battery which will work fine, it lowers the speed a little but that also means its a little quieter.
