Anyone interested in slapping together an AO team at Chicago next summer?

Oooh. This is tempting.

Ten man would be great, but harder to coordinate with a bunch of AOer's that have never played together. Five man is a little more feasible. Either one would be awesome.

I have found with Pickup teams, it makes no difference 5 or 10 man. They are both just as hard/easy to organize and play. You just have to remember, there is NO way you will win first, so go after sportsmanship.

Sure, it would be tough to win with a throw-together team, but it would be great exposure for AGD and a lot of fun.

I live in the northern suburbs of Chicago, just about a half hour out of the city. So, should anything actually happen and you need someone, i'm in.

Whoever shows could come early and practice together for a while. It's not unheard of, and it's definitely not impossible.

I play with a 3 man team out of MKE. We may be interested. If it comes together more, we could also come down for practices fairly regularly.

I live in Minneapolis and could commit more time if we were sponsored. A practice would be a whole weekend ordeal. When you've got a job, classes at the U of M and a full-time girlfriend time is little and precious.

Might be easier if people started up local 'chapters' of 'Team AO' or whatever it's named. Like one for the Chicago area, one in LA, etc...

Of course, since the Chicago Open is in Chicago...might be better to have 'Team AO' based in Chicago and practicing at the Badlandz, where the Chicago Open is hosted at. That way, 'Team AO' doesn't get their bootys handed to them in the first round. :)

There has been many owner groups try regional teams. It just doesn't seem to work. The most successfully of those groups seem to be the Iron Medians (although they are not an owners group). But even they have one group in the VA area and then pull mix matched people from all over the US (or at least they use to). I think it's better to get throw together teams for tournaments. For the larger tournaments such as Chicago Open or the IAO you would just be able to pull from a larger area. If people want to get together in Chicago and play a small local tournament then that's great. I think to organize a nation/world wide team and break it down into regions would be a lot of work and headaches.

On a side note, I am still planning on putting together a team or two (or three) for Skyball. It's March 1-2 in Toronto. There is a Yahoo Group setup for interested parties. There is not a lot of activity in the group, but there hasn't been a lot of information put out on the event yet.

FiTiRPiLiT and I go to the Badlandz a lot too, so that's 5 & 6. Neither he nor I have played in a tourney though. FiTiRPiLiT has a vertical feed EMag and I shoot an Automag.

You gonna be there this weekend lonsch?

Are any of you going to the tech class and tour? We'll be playing at CC after the tour.

lonsch is on my team, we practice at badladnz all the time, if we got dedicated people, 10-13 i guarantee that we could become succesful, and make semis, i know the badlandz fields like i know my hand, they are fun fields, and i watch aftershock play there close to every weekend.....
