Magnum boots were at Shatnerball 2004. What do u think? $100 a pair ... would u buy them?

Here is some info.

Phantom
Magnum USA recently unveiled its Fall 2004 collection of duty footwear, leading the way with the new Phantom V-Lite Collection. The Phantom V-Lite utilizes a revolutionary "vertical build concept" passionately devoted to stripping away as much weight as possible and incorporating advanced lightweight materials, without compromising structural integrity. A resulting benefit of Phantom V-Lite's construction: the ability to pass through metal detectors with no sensitivity.

I have some older magnums... They are very light and comfy in my experience. I've worn them for years hunting, playing pball, and other various activities. They're banged up but if I had to buy another boot, I'd DEFINITELY go with another type of Magnum.

i dont where boots at all for one reason: you cant move your ankles, so i just feel clumsy in boots

For wearing around, sure, for paintball, not really. I've played for years switching between duty boots and cleats and cleats are where it's at for me.

I want them, but not for a 100 bucks a pair :wow:

Oohhhh, if they breathe well then I'd say yes! They even have the integrated zippers.

I wonder if the toes are reinforced well or not.

Yeah. I had Magnums awhile back. They were nice, but I sure wouldn't pay $100 for them. You can get Magnums on sale at most big sporting goods chains for under $60.

They look nice for scenario but they are working on some low top cleats for tourney ball. They had a few pair on display but not for sale at SB. I've been sporting a prototype Magnum cleat for a while and I like them more than my ATCs. Hopefully they release them soon.

every 14 months or so i go out to Big 5 and replace my $20 football cleats with new $20 football cleats. It's hard for me to spend 3 years of shoe money on 1 pair that aren't even cleats ;)

of course this is coming form a guy who spent more on an E-Mag than most spent on their X-Mags.

I bought my DYE atcs a year ago for $80 and the are completly trashed. I replaced them with some Nike football cleats for $35.

I should paid more attention to the booth at Shatnerball when I had the chance. They look real confortable tho.

bought some magnum boots from the very fine lady there (shatnerball) just before the ending of the game I bought them for fifty bucks. They are comfortable, they support the ankles well but seem to be a little hot.
If you looking for cheap good shoes for paintball go to payless shoes; their nicer stuff is 30 bucks and just as good as the high dollar name brand. Some are made in the same factory :)

it all matter where u are going to be playing, if u are mostly a speedball person, u wont need boots and spikes of some sort are probably the best bet. If u are really into scenarios, a boot might be better, especially if there is rocky terrain

I'm a scenario player and have been wearing magnum boots since shattner II. I also wear them at work and have only had to buy new shoe strings for them. They are great boots, may not be the best for speedball.

That is pretty much what I have been wearing for the past few years. I wear the Magnum Stealth ST's which are a lot like those but without the side zipper and mine are steel toed (3.3lb/pair......1.65lb each) I also wear these for work.

I like them a lot. Decent amount of traction, but not too much like cleats (too much traction is not good for my bad knees). And a good deal of ankle support. You can find the stealth series for under $75 and $85 for ST's at many shoe retailers. $100 seems a bit steep, but not unreasonable.

They are very strong and durable. I've had the same pair for 2 years: just replace the insert every few months and every now and then give them a good cleaning and a light polish.

Here's one of my protoype pair.

I picked up a pair there at Shatnerball. They only had 2 styles in my size in stock when I got there. The boots I got were about 1" lower around the ankle than the pic at the top of this page. One other notable difference is a air pocket under the heel in the pair I bought (kinda like a Nike Air shoe). They charged me $50. I wore them the whole day on Sunday during the senario, and 10 hours on my feet later and NO BLISTERS. Very comfy. Sure my feet were sore and tired, but I think they would have been no matter what shoe I was wearing.

Hey if they came in a size 16 I would consider it.

If they are water proof I'd wear them for scenario ball.

For tournaments (or woods ball where I know there isn't any water) I wear cheap football cleats I got for $25 at Sports Athority.

As far as price goes, $100 isn't expencive at all for quality boots. You can easly spent $350 on hiking boots.

I had the same experience as the123. I bought a pair of the Phantoms at Shatnerball on Saturday (didn't pay $100 for them either) and wore them around all Saturday and Sunday. They were very light, and extremely comfy. I have played in them (both speed and woods-ball) a couple of times since, and I still love 'em. I have bad ankles, so the duty-boot length works for me.

As to some of the questions folks asked:
yes, there is a water proof version (at least, I thought I saw one on the website);
the toe box is reinforced, but not with steel.

Load -- one of these days I'm going to steal your contacts list, and find out how you score these prototypes. :ninja:

I've got a pair of Magnum Elite's (~$120/pair) in size 13 wide. First time in a looooooooooong time that a shoe fit me perfectly and didn't cause me any foot pain while breaking them in. The Elites are waterproof too, which is very nice. Went stomping through some of the creeks @ the Badlandz and my socks/feet were dry all day. The ankle support is superb as well.

Also picked up a pair of Magnum's socks @ Shatnerball III. I didn't think socks were a big deal. A sock is a sock is a sock, right? I was wrong. These things are uber comfy. Pick up some of those as well.

I give Magnum the big thumbs up! :)

Quoted for truth. I have a pair of Adidas cleats that cost me 40 bucks. They are low profile, light, and give me excelent traction when running. I noticed when I finally switched to real cleats my game improved a lot. Especially making those runs to the 50 off the break, you just can't do it in any other type of shoe.

I won a pair about a year or two ago when Magnum first entered the scenario scene. Figures... I forgot about the certificate and when I found it, it had expired the previous day.

I was going to get a pair of boots at SB on Sunday, (after my accident ;) ) but they were sold out of my size.
I like Magnum Boots.

I use to where reebock football cleats with a zip up shroud over the laces. good to keep the sand and dirt out.

but they eventually just make your feet hurt. so I switched to new balance trail running shoes. they are not cleats, but they have a pretty aggressive tread pattern and feel great on you feet after a full day of running.

I now wear new balance products most of the time, and redwings to work.
