Alright, so for as long as I can remember, I've thought skydiving seemed like it would be the COOLEST thing to do. Well, my 18th birthday's coming up, and so I'm doing some serious research on places to go, approximate costs, and my options (tandem, AFF, etc).

Anybody ever done this? Advice? Criticisms? Am I getting into something that could suck even more money out of me than paintball and crew? :)

I haven't done it yet, but from the soldiers I've talked to who served or serve in airborne units it is supposed to be one of the biggest rushes you can get. Have fun!

My dad has done it... his primary didnt open, thankfully the reserve did. he doesnt recommend it to me just from his experience, but i still think it would be cool.

I've done it. I thought it was WAY cool.

The first time you go is ALWAYS tandem. After that, you have to start taking classes in order to go solo.

I don't have a place in VA, but www.skydivenjshore.com is where I went.

in illinois(not sure if rules differ)
your first quite a few jumps (10 i think) have to be tandom.
this is only if you want to freefall.

if you want to jump staticline.(chute opens immediatly)
then you can do it by yourself the first time.

i have gone twice tandom.
its a good time.

I would rather fly the plane then jump out of it :)

My chute getting tangled in the lines...cut free and opened the reserve...now that is scary.
