So I went and re-did my whole PC. I bought a new motherboard, a MSI Neo k8n Platinum. ANyway, I installed the sound drivers and went to plug in my speakers.
There are six holes back there.
1. S/PDIF Out-Coaxial
2. LIne in
3. Line out
4. MIC
5. Rear Speaker Out (in 7.1 ch/5.1 ch)
6. Center/Subwoofer Speaker (in 7.1 ch/5.1 ch)
I played a CD in Windows MEdia player, turned the sound all the way up in windows, and proceeded to plug the speaker jack in to every whole. I got a faint sound in the Line out hole (number 3).
Anyone know whats going on? I'm running a fresh install of Windows XP with SP 2...if that helps.
