How much better really can you make the dm4?

DYE never said the DM5 was going to be a massive change, noobs on the internet made that up. So I see no reason why you're disappointed, as it's not supposed to be more expensive and should have an HE bolt.

man, what a bunch of whiney little ..... il withhold my self from going further. It looks great! has the things people wanted, and it comes in a bunch of colors stock now

I think that Dye, without a doubt, has pushed the spool valve technology to its limits. I'm not so sure there's anything else that they can do to improve the gun (even the efficiency issue) anymore.

Just cosmetics and perhaps a little refinement here and there like the membrane keypad.

Other than that, this gun is definitely a beast but I don't know whether I would buy this at full price versus a DM4 at blowout prices.........my 2 cents.

I must have never got the memo from the n00bs about it being significantly changed  I was told that it's just an LCD DM4.

Sounds like a worthwhile improvement over the DM4

been a while since i've seen the shocktech one but this one reminds me of it.

rumors have it that it has a shorter bolt.

other changes i see are: no more feedneck hump, comes with airport

Looks good. The DM4 is an awesome gun. Looks like they fixed my only gripe, the feedneck.

I think it looks sweet. My friend is all crazy about the dm4, I will have to show him this, I dont think he knows about it. (I didnt untill just now) I hope this will bring the price of dm4's down alittle bit, as i REALLY want one...

The easiest and most needed improvement was overlooked in my opinion: A real switch in place of the membrane pad.

I like it better than the DM4 looks-wise. The milling seems to flow with the vertical adapter a lot better whereas the DM4 sort of looks like the milling was an afterthought. I also like that it's a good 1/2 shorter with a shorter feedneck. I found DM4's a bit too tall for me. I would'nt mind owning one of theses someday.

magking1971

It looks MUCH better now.
I still wish someone around here owned one so I could try it out.

is it enough of an improvement to move my dm3 to get one? im thinking no, but i will wait to try one out first. i think they look real good though.

LittlePaintballBoy

where are the eye covers?

Good question...

logamus, the DM4 just shoots better IMO than other matrices (DM3, LCD's, etc). I think it is worth it to drop the DM3 and buy a DM4/5.

I have always thought the DM4 was ugly so I'm glad they improved on that, it looks way better, imo. Hopefully they will have upped the efficiency or at least get an aftermarket company on the ball to improve it. Overall, I'm sure it's just as good a performer, hopefully a little better.

Maybe the eyes are run internal.

Although I like the performance of the DM4, I don't like the style of either the DM4 or the DM5. But that's just me.

in the other topic the pic shows the eye covers but they match the body ano.

I'll say it:

I STILL THINK THE DM4 LOOKS LIKE A STUPID-LOOKING SPACE AGE NERF GUN

Doesn't mean the marker doesn't rock (it does), I just think it looks a bit stupid. Always have thought that about the looks. The DM5 looks much better in my opinion.

I don't like it. But I am sick of people saying thats not a Matrix. IT IS! What do yall think the DM stands for? Dye Matrix.

They didn't want to. I wouldn't make a big change if I made that much money.

I've never heard anyone say the DM4 isn't a matrix

I have. I think people mean it isn't one because Dye changed so much of the look/parts of the Matrix.

Sweet gun. IMO the DM4's and now the DM5's do look a little weird, but they still freakin' rip. It's unfortunate that the best looking gun on the market is made by Smart Parts. The best looking stock gun, that is.

(a Karta emag is the best looking gun ever.)

my $.02

BTW, how are DM4's on maintenance. I know they are a little easier to grease since the fuse bolt is one piece, but reliability? Hopefully the DM4 prices on ebay will drop a bit now that the DM5's are out. It's between a DM4 and a Speed for my next gun I think, although an e-cocker is tempting...

I have. I think people mean it isn't one because Dye changed so much of the look/parts of the Matrix.

I thought the DM4 was just a matrix with a nicer, lighter body, an on-off in the front, and a "one piece" bolt...

and internal LPR!

They didn't want to. I wouldn't make a big change if I made that much money.

I know, thats why I said that. People expected way to much out of the dm5. I think they expected a change similar like 03 lcd trix->dm4, a change of that magnitude but dm4->dm5. The dm4 is an awesome gun, and I am sure the dm5 will be.

I actually think it looks better than the DM4, or it might just be the professional pictures.

i like it, i feel they improved the DM4 as much as they could in 1 year, and look forward to the DM6 already, wish it wasnt quite so tall, but otherwise, im very pleased with how it came out, and would love to have one

i dont think it looks too much different than the dm4 just a low rise feedneck... though if you go to dyes site it says its smaller lighter and faster.. how i ask the dm4s programing was already pretty wicked and this doesnt seem like a big enough design change to make that big of a difference.. basically i dont feel it deserves to be a dm5 it should just be an updated dm4 cuz thats all it really is!!!

I like the look of the Shocktech DM4 the best. If I were to buy a Matrix, that would be the one.

I would like to see what it would look like if a company gave the DM4 some smooth milling like on a DM3. No rolling hills with artistic valleys. Just give me the good ol' pipe look. :P

Personally, I love the performance, but hate the size.
But thats just me.

it really isnt though. It has new improvements. its the 2005 dye matrix. see how that works? Also, it could really be faster, there is even more new technology in the bolt, who knows, maybe it opperates faster? runs at a lower dwell time? there are all these things that we do not know yet.

mosfet, if that is your thing, then look into the dark dm4. personally, i think it is ugly as sin, right up there with the Shocktech dm4. you really cannot out do dye when it comes to making a good looking product, you just cant.
