For those of you who have played an xball game. How much paint did your team shoot for the entire game? Thx.

When I played Xball at the Tex-Ball AO meet earlier this year, I think I used 2 cases over the 2 days. Im not sure howmany games we actually played, but it was a lot of smaller short games for each half. I dont think I used as much as others, but it sure was fun none the less ;)

Used 2 1/2 in the same x-ball "tourney" as Creative. I figure that in a "regular" x-ball tourney they use quite a bit more per person.

I go through 2 cases in the pre-lims at the local 5-man tournaments and I'm probably on the low side for a back player.

I'm sure the pro Xball guys go through a lot more than that.

wait, that's not for the whole team right? Don't you guys pool paint?

when lasoya played xball, he went through 8 pods a round

think about how many rounds you play in a full game

too much for my bank

We do but we work out how much we'll each use, buy all those cases, then slpit the total price evenly.

adt501-

Exactly, I generaly go through 5-6 pluss hopper per game and that's not a lot compared to the pro's. They probably go through at least 15 cases (not each) or more.

you actually shoot less per "game" but you can play upwards of 20-25 games per match, so its alot of paint.

figured it would be a lot of paint. was hoping someone had played an offical xball game and could give ruff estimate for a whole team for the whole game.

side note I dont think anyone averages 8 pods a game in xball do they?

Sac

if im playing front i average about a hopper and 1-2 pods playing back its a hopper and 4.

so rough estimate here say you have an average of 5 guys shooitng 3 pods and a hopper per game and you run 20 games in a match

i got about 6.2 cases per guy for a match... that sounds too high tho.

tx-ball,

I bought two and only used one for two days of play. Really depends on postion. Our average game time was about 2 mins.

check out blazestorms CDR vs ND practice vid. They had a truck full of paints. Literally... the entire bed of the truck was filled with paint.... Think that was only for CDR. I can only ponder what ND went through...

For 1 xball match, i.e 2 20 minute halves, estimate on using 10-15 cases of paint.

This X-ball match is brought to you by the National Paintball Manufacturers Association. X-ball: when in doubt, shoot!

Yeah, assume you will average around 10 cases a match, it might be slightly more or slightly less depending on how you do against other teams.

sounds like people goin down at the drop of a hat...

2min game - fu$@ that... I'll stay in the woods. Xball - bunch of people playing in a front lawn sized field scattered with multicolored, blow up, goofy things that look like Salvatore Dali, Fear an Loathing monuments to the 1980's neon colored, acid/XTC enduced choices of bad clothing and hair dye. Last time I was running through a field of inflatable circus furniture, it was called tripping not paintball. :D

I'm still a firm believer speedball/Xball requires more skill than woodsball. Thats why the actually pay people to play Xball and they dont pay people to sit in the woods all day.

nobody "sits in the woods" all day. Woods matches can go by just as fast as speedball sometimes. Yeah, sure if the wood field is poorly designed and the games poorly reffed, then yeah they can take a while, but the extended play and not being able to know exactly where everyone is at is the appeal of woods ball. To me a well designed woods field has little to no underbrush - just trees with bunkers and barricades scattered throughout... just like speedball minus the ghey neon blow up dolls.

The smell and feel of the woods makes all the difference to me. There's more skill involved than just being able to throw a gazzillion rounds a second. Those branches between you and the other guy just may require to use your head and come up with a better way to get a shot on them.

Do I play speedball - yes on occasion. is it for me? not really

As for being paid... it goes back to the whole being in the woods thing - kind of hard to have a camera crew and a stadium of spectators amongst the pine trees.

just my .02

dude. that's $5000.

it's 5 man or 7man? even if it's 7, that's 2800 rounds per player per match. Do you all carry 20 pods?

tony3
11-13-2004, 09:46 PM
They were playing xball div 3, they got 2nd place. I don't think they exactly pay 50 for a case of paint ;)

Do you have any idea how xball works? I think not.

Enemy
11-13-2004, 11:12 PM
ok fist off 100 cases over 10 matches is 10 cases a match lets say they are 7 man so each player is shooting 12-1300 rounds per match consider each match is 2 20 minute halfs consisting of as many games as they can get in! i think he might have actually under estimated the amount of cases they used but it sounds pretty close to right.. where is there a problem... oh and keep in mind the jt pack can hold 20 pods at 140 rnds per pod thats 2800 rnds per pack!!

When we played xball, no person took more then 5 pods on the field and no one ever shot that many.

Sac
11-14-2004, 11:06 PM
yea at practice i take 3 pods and never get through more than 2, you just hata experience first hand how diffrent it is from regular 5 man.
