Webby....enable avatars?

Just wondering if you'd ever consider enabling the avatar option. Thought it'd be cool to have a picture under the name of each person....

We've already discussed this before. No avatars, because it's a resource hog and people start using offensive avatars, which ruins it for everybody when we have to turn them off. So the vote was to not enable them in the first place.

Thats right - no avatars. The fact we would have to police then is one thing. We already do it with the sig images.

But the MAIN reason is because each time that avatar is displayed it is using resources from our server. Now that may not seem like a big deal, but you get 1000 posts a day as we sometimes do and an increase in traffic and you may see things slow down. Heck, cphillip with his approximate 1,034,934 posts could bring the serve to its kness by himself!

With sig images they are all hosted OFF of our server, as YOU are responsible for putting them up somewhere.

Thats the main reason. Thanks for the understanding.
