I'm buying a gun in early January, and I don't really know what's a good gun. I can't really go to my local field and shoot guns, main things there are DM4's and Shockers. Everyone, please post what you like and dislike about your guns, and also any problems you've had with said marker.

Angel Fly -

Pros: Fast, accurate, easy to fix, never break, chicks will like you more, no kick, eyes.

Cons: It forces me to shoot too much and I don't have time for all the women it attracts.

all ule mech mag (xvalve, ult, ule body, intelli, etc)

pros:
light as hell
pretty fast (able to keep up with most electros)
small and compact (easy to tuck and run with)
cool looking
never chops
insanely accurate
always gets good looks
no batteries or stupid electric crap
once tuned, never had a problem, even after 20,000+ rounds
maintence is easy

cons:
gas-hog (as all mags are)
pretty damn expensive for a mech gun
not as fast as an electro for the same price

thats about it. i will never go away from my mech mag unless AGD comes out with some new extraordianry electro.

Palmer Squall

Pros: No hopper, compact, fits in a holster, super accurate, can be used with 12 grams or a 3.5 ounce tank if you get the backbottle kit, way cooler than any gun with a hopper

Cons: You need skills to be effective with it

dye trix
evolve bolt kit, tadao 4.0, sidewinder and SCM, other ups.
-really quiet, REALLY FAST (can set tadao so it wolnt bounce on slow pull test, but, bounce like crazy when you shoot fast), really efficent, sort of big/heavy, but not bad by any means.

upped imp- (lpr, bolt, valve, trigger, vision, ect)
fast, not efficent, durable and easy to fix, real cheap, best bang for the buck (will get 1 for a backup when i get spare $$$)

dm4- what can i say, a lighter matrix, thats all it is, no kick, quiet, ect ect,

intimidator (all pre-2k4 versions)- fast, light, efficent, not much kick, durable, really good markers

intimidator (2k4 and up)- same thing, but smaller and lighter

dm5- see dm4, but 1/2 in shorter....thats all the difference, an oz or 1 ligheter, 1 pod more efficent, no big deal, not worth the hype

05 speed- (only shot, not owned)- really comfortable in hands (both 90* and 45* frames) really fast, light, balances nicely, trigger is one of the best ever.

I've owned alot of markers...

Tippmann 98!
Pros: DURABLE, okay on efficiency, not really that heavy.
Cons: You will be judged.

Thoughts: Playing woodsball? Buy this.

Classic Timmy
Pros: light, fast, quiet
Cons: Frame is absolutely horrible and the grips crack. Can find them for cheap.

Thoughts: Good gun, but the non-clamshell is horrible. Maybe if you can get one w/ a clamshell for a good deal, go for it, but without one, they arent worth the trouble.

Angel LCD(2k1)
Pros: Trigger so light!
Cons: Lots of parts to break.

Thoughts: Well balanced gun, just not my style really. The trigger w/o a spring feels very 'soft' and the gun shoots 'soft,' IMO great gun, cause you can find older models for alot cheaper.

Emag
Pros: Fast, Unique, LX helps w/ chop issues
Cons: Heavy, LX isnt as effecient as ACE, no matter what you maggers say ;).

2k2 Timmy
Pros: TONS of upgrades, EXTREMELY LIGHT, super fast, Clamshell instead of crappy classic frame
Cons: maybe people that are jealous of you will call it a spyder.

Dynasty Shocker!
Pros: Smallest gun I've ever shot, very light, very very quiet
Cons: Efficiency is not good at all w/o a new bolt, expensive!

Thoughts: Pretty gun, fast, immensly small, expensive though :(

Current gun: 2003 BKO
Pros: Cheap, kinda light, SP Mod is unique and WORKS
Cons: Not really that light, not really 'that' fast.

Thoughts: Good gun for its price, SP mod is very cool(makes it so it doesnt chop), you can find new models for cheap and they are nice.

No Kick - (Accurate)
Good Efficiency with the HE bolt
Simple so its easy to clean

Used by the Naughty Dogs and Russian Legion so you know it's an excellent marker
and the best part - it cost up to $700 less than most high-end markers in its class! You can pick a Freestyle up new for less than $850 compared to a $1499 timmy...

Pros : everything

Cons: the price tag...but then again intimidators love being expensive...what is it now...nearly $1700 for a ripper 2 ? (not including tax)

ill just jump to the things you would actually care about...

x-mag: pros sexiest milling out there, very fast, light, can be one of the lightest setups with a halo due to x-power! fireblade trigger really made a difference..alot of kick compared to the others!
cons: cost alot just for sex appeal, the trigger is some what tricky, ineffiecent but i only care when the field only fills to 1500 cuz thats only about 1 game for me!

now on to what i have had the privlage of shooting..

dm4: pros very fast and easy i think somethings wicked in the programing on this one! light, no kick!!! very smooth.
cons: everyone has one, about to drop in value with advent of dm5, did i mention everyone has one, looks are somewhat bland and an aquired taste.

03 shocker: pros: very light, one of if not the lightest electro out there! very fast, nice trigger but needs to be setup right, the first one i shot felt like crap but the one i got to try out last week was amazing! looks good.
cons: still has bugs! needs a new bolt that should have come from the factory stock! almost feels cheap. vision isnt that great.

viking: pros: i loved this gun. great trigger feel.. very efficient its basically the opposite of my xmag i will picking one up as soon as i can get the cash!!

3.2 emag and 03 viking with was and eyes

EMAG PROS :)

lvl 10 tuned correctly=no chops
2 guns in one with electro and mech modes
if you take care of the gun it wont break, quality gun
fairly easy to clean and mantain
if set up correctly can rip streams

EMAG CONS :(

kinda of heavy (even with ule parts)
hard to find aftermarket parts
gas hog!!
not a lot of emag owners so if you are mechaniclly declined its gonna be hard to find a qualified person (besides Tuna) to fix ur emag

VIKING PROS :) (keep in mind Im new to vikings only had it for 3 weeks)

super efficient on air
rips streams out of the box
very tuff anno hard to scratch up
quality design, a lot of fun to shoot

VIKING CONS :(

not easy to work on ( you need a special tool to open it up, that tells me dont touch!)
kinda of blocky looking
tired of people asking "what kind of impulse is that"?
not happy with the 03 wire nubbins for detents, if Im correct I think the 04 models fixed that.

Both guns, if properly taken care of, will give you many days of fun at the field. Both guns will get questions from other players, at least around my way, not too many people have emags or vikings. It might be tuff to get parts for either gun, but I wouldnt trade em!

IMO if you are a front guy. You should look into a cyborg, alias, shocker, or freestyle.

After I got screwed on an angel, I am iffy about trying to get another one. It was a nice gun though. Downside to them is that you will need a LP preset/adjustable tank cause they operate on low pressure.

Personally, I think that a ULE mag w/ ULT and LVL 10, a short barrel like 10" and a warp feed will be nice for a front man, unless you play pro. Then you need something faster.

ULT is fast enough for a front guy.

And guys, Mags dont kick that much. My emag has no more kick than my angel did.

Mags are easy to maintain.

Alias Timmy

Pros:
light
easy to maintain
tons of online help
good guns right out of the box
everyone owns a timmy of some sort, so a major breakdown at a field is usually an easy fix
effiicient
aftermarket parts that actually make a difference

cons:
mad trigger bounce, even with new software
everyone owns one
price tag (for something so dimple, you'd think otherwise)
all the cool kids use timmies
crappy user manual (think "white box", but with a manual)

Thats about all I got for now.

If you're looking for light, try a Palmer Blazer (http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/) . It's very light, and very compact. They even have a limited run of 4-color camo ones available right now. The Blazer is very efficient, and can run on co2 or compressed air, no limitations like so many of these other guns people are mentioning. I owned one for a long time and it's the only gun I that i feel bad about getting rid of. The only con I can think of is that you will have to answer so many questions about it at the field. Another plus is that it isn't electric, so you don't have to worry about batteries, water, or dropping it.

Angel 04 Fly: the best gun out there.
Pros:
Light
Fast
easy trigger (to set and use)
pretty good air effeciency
very compact
getting cheaper by the day
Great quality in products and service.
Maintainanceit easy, six drops of lover juice after every use
never chops unless it is extremely bad paint
Girls come to see it, never saw any gun atract so much attention from the girls

Cons:
Shoost very fast and makes you want to test your limits.
Love juice is expenxive
Of all the options there is none for phone numbers

cons: still has bugs! needs a new bolt that should have come from the factory stock! almost feels cheap. vision isnt that great.

youre dumb. they do come with HE bolts stock, as well as with a new board (same one that is used in the nerve, with adjustable ramp-meaning you could adjust it to be a lot of ramp, or none) so no more bugs. vision is fine, tourneys dont sell dark shelled paint, as well as most manufacturers make mostly bright shelled paint. its not really an issue.

Angel LCD -

Pro: Fast, easy to clean, reliable, puts paint where I need it.
Con: Chops even with an Egg II, boot-up time, cost, and it's a little heavier than new angels.

'99 Autocker (CCM Front end)-

Pro: Pretty fast as a Mech, accurate, quiet.
Con: Its at the age where all the stuff on it's "breaking" meaning that it's been fineky lately and wanting lots of attention, speaking of which, I need to rebuild the HPR... oh yeah, and HEAVY (12lb. empty w/ hopper and air system).

ULE Mag -

Pro: Fast as a Mech, accurate, quiet, hasn't chopped paint yet, light.
Con: Haven't really run into anything that I'd call a con, except for the cost, they are kinda pricey.

Tippmann A-5 -

Pro: Indestructable, reliable, and the cyclone is just cool.
Con: Heavy
