She was my uncles dog, I spent ALOT of time with her though, I spent a couple of summers helping my uncle out when he had broken bones.

she was like my dog. She had some really bad hip problems so my uncle had to put her to sleep :(

Bless your doggie Man. I am all ripped up right now too. The love of my life, my 16 year old Miss Kitty was diagnosed on wednesday with Chronic Kidney failure. She is hanging on and we are treating her agressively with Sub Q fluids and a couple of other meds. Its been a long couple of days over here. Please say a kind word for here if you can find room in your shattered heart. :( http://tunamart.com/images/kittyclosedeyes.jpg

i feel your pain tuna.

Me too, I had to put down my 19 year old cat, that I raised from a kitten, back in Feb. She had kidney failure too, and did not take the Sub Q treatment well. I also had to put her son down last year, after a four month bout with cancer.

Good luck tuna, get the good times in while you can.

But you have to be gratefull that most of the animals that have been named died after a disease, probably felt like a relief for them. I don't know how hard it is on those who lost them though.

I just wish we could be as humane to people as we are to animals. HOw come you can put a dog to sleep but not a human. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Anyway I lost 2 dogs. 1 to old age and the other drowned in our pool. He was really old and couldn't see or move real good.

She is not gone yet! Not if I can help it! She is actually coming around and responding to the Sub Q therapy quite well. She ate by herself for the first time in a week and a 1/2 today. My wife and I are actually in tears right now. We are so happy. Miss Kitty was always a fighter, and she appears to be fighting hard right now. Thanks to all for your prayers. They seem to be working. :( :)

Another note that is VERY important. Alot of these diseases take time to develop, and without the regular checkup at the vet, you may never even know that the animal is sick. In cats, they will act totally normal until 70% of the kidney function is lost. Then you have to go through what I am doing now. Even if your pet seems healthy, get your animals an annual checkup. It could save their life.

Unfortunately, our family dog past away this year also. Her name was Tasha and she was a shepherd/chow mix. We had her as a puppy since 1992 and she was the best family dog we could have ever had. My condolences to all of you who also lost a pet this year.
