so are they hard to fill being so small?

You open the vlave and close it , then wieght it , Its a little trickier than than the others

we fill em be ear same as other tanks...not too hard to do..empty then fill it takes about half a sec to a sec
just goes pshhhhst then full--atleast on our setups..

Yeah, they are harder to fill, but not impossible. My guess is that you will never get a full fill by the 12 yo kid working behind the counter at the field.

I am thinking about getting a phantom, so how many shots will i get out of say half a fill?

12 gram Co2 = 20 shots before drop off
28 grams in an ounce so 28 / 12=2.333
2.3333 * 20= 46 shots per ounce
3.5 * 46= 161 shots per 3.5 ounce tank
1.75(half fill)*46= 80.5 shots
keep in mind these are estimates that are lowballing so you will very easily get more shots than these. i'm currently runnin around with a stubby 16 oz tank on mine cuz i picked it up for $5. 16 * 46 = 736 shots.....

not hard, but its very easy to blow the burst disk.
had that done a few times before i asked for competant people to do it
