Good price.

I have an old 114/3000 Apoc (SS reg) and a newer 2kApoc. They are great systems.

Well I just got a NIB Armageddon on ebay for $199. That's what I payed for my POS Java preset 6 months ago. He might have one more. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7120408247&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT)

What's the difference between the Appocalypse and the Armageddon?

Apoc is a fixed reg, the Armageddon is a removable reg.

Apoc is a fixed reg, the Armageddon is a removable reg.

What are the advantages/disadvantages? I looked on the AirAmerica site and it's obvious a part of the regulato unscrews with the bottle (wwhat they call the 'arm'). The only advantage I can see is if you want multiple bottle sizes it migh be slightly cheaper than multiple regulators.

And does only the Appocalypse have an On/Off?

In order to ship a air system under current TSA standards (as I understand them) the inspector must be able to see inside the bottle - the reg must be completely removed from the bottle.

So, the 'arm' is just an empty shell that you can see into the bottle through? How is that different from unscrewing the reg directly from the bottle?

The only real advantage is the ability to remove the bottle for storage. The Armageddon was out before screw-ins were really popular. It's also before the days of QD drops and such. It was a way to take the tank off the gun without having to fool with the reg.

Yes the Apoc has an on/off. The AA Raptor was the HPA system that had no on/off or output guage.

And no, inorder to fly with an Armageddon, you would have to take the stem off. Even unscrewed from the reg, the tank can and will still have air in it.

Lohman446
12-13-2004, 02:42 PM
No, that stem makes the bottle readily removeable (like the max-flo regs) - though I would not recommend doing it unless you have the proper knowledge and tools to reassemble it correctly.

AirAmerica REALLY needs a comparison chart on their website.

So, is the Armageddon woth the extra money compared to the Apoc?

Why not get the cheaper Raptor Rex? The lack of a rail mount? Do you have to buy a drop separately?

The new MaxFlo's are one piece regs, the old MaxFlo's were two pieces. Just like the Armageddon you were able to remove the tank from the reg by just unscrewing it. Not special tools, no fear of it flying away. The Armageddon basiaclly uses a ball that plugs up the stem. The the bottle is screwed into the reg it pushes back on the ball and air starts to flow. The old MaxFlo had this same system, but they also had and on/off on the bottle it's self.

Apocalypse 2k:
Aluminum regulator
Rated for 4500psi
200-1100psi Adjustablity
Rail mount
Integrated On/Off
Input and Output guages
Reg screws directly into the bottle
Available in 68 and 88ci bottles

Apocalypse 2K (Body Bag Edition):
From what I can tell, this is just an Apoc system without a bottle

Armageddon:
Aluminum regulator
Rated for 4500psi
200-1100psi Adjustablity
Rail mount
Input and Output guages
Bottle screws into the reg. Designed to be removed with no tools, but bottle still holds air. (much like an old MaxFlo)
Available in 68 and 88ci bottles

Raptor Rex:
Stainless steel reg
Rated for 4500psi
200-1100psi Adjustability
Input guage only
Reg screws directly into the bottle

Hmm...white space...

If the mods what to remove the post, that's cool. I'll leave it there for people to use to compare.

I made that chart from my knowledge of the AA products. There might be mistakes in the information, so don't blame me or Air America if something is not right.

but there is the bodybag for the apoc that is just the reg for $140. then there is a SPECIAL for the apoc and bottle for $270.

I just got my Apoc today and i brought it down to my local shop to get gased up for the first time and set for my mag, and the reg seat seal was bad so the output would slowly spike up towards 1200psi while dry fireing. Now i have to wait a new reg seat :(

Lohman: to fly on an airline, the reg must be removed, but just to ship it to you, it doesnt. weird huh?

Ok, differences in 'geddon and apoc

Geddon: removable bottle, super easily rebuilt, better for LP operations, bottle can be removed under pressure (works as an on/off), can have multiple bottle sizes and switch out as needed, or to fit in a gear bag better.

Apoc 2k: slightly lighter than 'geddon, lever on/off, better for hp operations (I.E. Mags) easily serviced, but not as easy as 'geddon,

Raptor: similar to Apoc 2k, but no output gauge, no on/off (adjusting pressure down works, but you must be carefull, there is a certain procedure to keep from ruining the piston o-ring) and needs a cradle to mount ,( cp makes a nice one, and benchmark made nice ones also) or just
use it remote. Best for HP situations. (400psi and up) this system has been around longer (with improvements) than many airsystem companys.

Hope that helps!

Those comparisons were all a great help.

Not sure I'm able to make up my mind whether I should buy or not, but at least I understand the differences. :p

Seeing as my stock options are dropping like a brick :( , maybe I should just stop contributing and buy Pball equipment. Better to spend the money on equipment paint than have it evaporate. :p

my suggestion is to get a arm or apoc and not the raptor rex. i have had an armegeddon since 2000 and it is great!

The raptor was the orginal mass produced nirotgen compressed air for paintball.

In my personal opinion the raptor is proned to small leaks especially if you play in a sandy/dusty area.

The raptor is exactly like the reg of an automag classic. It is also the same regulator that air america calls the unireg or the aluminium version : the black ice.

Since the raptor is stainless stell it is quite heavy.
