i just bought hl2/cs:source and i have a geforce fx 5200 and am looking for a new viedo card that would run hl2 good.
what cards would you recomend that are in the $100-150 range?

with the card i have now i get about 10 fps in cs:s and 50 in regular cs. i cant even play because cs:s is so choppy, so that is why im looking for a new card.

thanks

You have a better card then mine and I run HL2 fine with decent graphics. Try turning them down or maybie your problem is somewhere else, got ram?

tell him to get the XT, and then ATItool to OC it a little bit.

For the thread starter, as far as Nvidia goes....I'd say try and get a 5900 ultra.
As far as ATI goes, try and get a 9800pro or XT

AMD athlon Cpu's are great for gaming , they are alot cheaper than pentuims and work just as good if not better

right now my brother is looking at three different cards.

what one do you think is the best for the money. and he would like to get the 9800pro but he doesent have a extra $250. so he is looking at those 3.#1 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-460&depa=1) #2 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-331&depa=1) and #3 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-382&depa=1)
