View Full Version : Advice on a rail/minidrop foward

I have a Minimag with a Y-Grip. My air system is a AGD Flatline. Currently it's mounted with the stock AGD drop foward. Since the Y-Grip already puts your tank foward enough, I've been thinking I don't really need the AGD drop.

I've seen where people have a rail or a very tiny tank adaptor/mini drop. Maybe even the Shocktech minis will work, as I've seen them on a few AO'ers guns and Clare's X-Mag. What do you guys suggest I use that will be compatible with the Flatline. As some of you know, the AGD Flatline uses a clamping system with holes drilled through the side. How would that mount on a rail?

I'm just curious in seeing how it would be to not have the tank so far foward. Maybe it would put my wrist in a better position.

There's a few places that make Flatline/dovetail adapters, I forget where tho... :tard: Then just put it on a uni-mount or somethin similar.

I use a CP rail on my Mag. They are so nice. It uses 3 set screws to expand the rail once it is inside the joint. It's never gone loose on me before and you don't have to worry about scarring up your adaptor or tearing into your anno. I think AGD sells the dove tail thingies. Look under Flatline parts.

I really like it. I noticed that swapping to a rail (I used to use a System-X drop) made it a lot easier for me to switch hands. Shooting left handed is not as big a deal as it was with the drop.

I second the CP rail. I love mine.

A friend of mine has the shcoktech micro (? don't know the real name) it's basicly a rail and it's pretty boss. It drops the tank about 1/4 in down and not foward at all. And it's sharp looking.

I make a small drop specifically for the "y" grip. I can't find any pictures with a full set though.

Here's the link > http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=155104

This make a compact configuration. If your interested I can post a picture of a complete setup tomorrow.

take a micro drop and turn it backwards so that you can get a slight angle upwards and you can get a dovetail adapter from agd.

Yup,

With that collar thingy that the Flatline uses it can really only bolt on to the stock drop or the dovetail adaptor. They should come with both I think, but it may have been lost or something. You'll need it (the dovetail adaptor) to put your tank on almost all of the above options. I think Benchmark used to make a cradle that took the place of the collar, but I don't know where you would find one. Probably not the best news for you, but I hope it clears up any confusion. :D

How much did they charge for shipping?

I think about 6 because they only use UPS Ground. I know it's a little high.

too late now, but Ive seen Check it unimounts on ebay sell for 28 plus 3.80 shipping. In fact, I picked one up for my emag. Trying to get rid of unecessasary weight. I think it is going to put the tank right where I want it. We'll see.

I say forget the minidrop. I say go with the physco ballistics Z drop forward. But that wouldn't look good on a mag. If you was getting a different gun I would say get the Z drop. But I say get what I got. A custom products lightning with blue empire spacer and empire on/off adapter. Or what I used to have a dye drop forward.  :shooting:

the point of me getting a rail is because the Y-Grip already moves your tank forward enough. Getting a Z-Drop forward would make my problem worse. My mask is already 1 inch from the back of my 'Mag when I'm shooting.
