Hello All:

This is a question for whoever in this forum that have experiences in flying either domestic or international for paintball tournments.

The question is, what is the procedures of bring your paintball gears( marker, air-systems,..etc) over to another destination by flight? I realize this may be a stupid question to ask right now when the airport security is at the hightest. But what about all these international teams and players that must attend tournies abroad?

The reason I ask is 'cause I'm planning to fly out to Taiwan after New Years and considering the possibilty of bring my RT along so I can play some paintball there. Just want to know whoever had any experience of bring their markers overseas or domestically, please give some advice on who I should talk to before even considering or exploring this thought. I don't want to be famous and show up on TV as the 1st suspected terroist with an Automag.

This has been discussed many times here on AO. What you might want to do (just like if you are sick... asking a Forum is not as good as asking your Doctor.....) is contact the Airline you are going to use. Explain it to THEM and ask what their policies are for the transport of your equipment.

There are many misconceptions about Paintball and its equipment, so be specific. Do NOT call it a GUN, call it a Marker (since that is what it IS called). If you see the person you are talking to is misinterpreting what you are saying (or just has too many misconceptions) clearly point this out in a polite manner. If they feel your are trying to give them a "Lesson", or trying to tell them their job, they can get crabby and become totally uncooperative. This will most likely lead to them simply telling you that you CAN'T bring it, when chances are, you actually CAN.

You may also think about contacting a reputable travel agency and have them look into laws in Taiwan concerning the issue.

And of course, there is the chance that one of our fellow AO Members has this information on hand. :)

And here are some links to similar discussions we have had on AO. I am sure you will find some good information in them, even thought they don't deal with Taiwan specifically....
