I just got a new car and I want to put some subs and an amp in it. I don't really know what to get and if I would need anything other than subs/amp to make it sound good. This amp and these subs look cool.... are they good?

I have always heard Pyramid and Lanzar are peices of crap, but who knows. I know for a fact JL Audio is nice as well as any competition brands. I personally have two 12" MTX thunders 6000's in my car and they haven't gave me any problems. If I were you, I would go to a local dealer and see what they can do for you.

Man, don't go for looks as your primary objective in subs, ya know? It's quite easy to hear the difference between $150 worth of subs and amp and $400 worth.. and I'd bet if you're looking for subs for any reason other than to go boom-boom thru town you won't be happy with ultra low end stuff like that.

So that stuff is bad. What kind would you advise I buy? And where? The only place that sells car audio around me is Best Buy I think.

I would recomend Rockford speakers and Punch subs and a Pioneer Cd deck! My friend has a Pioneer Cd deckand its tight as hell, they arent that expensive for a nice one if you blast ur music!

Please stay away from RF and Pioneer.

I would recommend low end JL Audio or Memphis subs and amps. Believe me, it will sound so much better dude. Look into JL Audio 10 inch W3v2 (http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/10w3v2.html) or Memphis 10 inch PR series (http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/details.asp?id=54) subs...they are great and fairly inexpensive. And another piece of advice, the box is the most important part of getting good sound so don't buy the cheapest thing you can find as far as enclosures.

What's your budget look like?

I am a fan of Rockford amps, their subs aren't the greatest though. Right now I have 2 12" Pioneer subs in a ported enclosure. Its not all that heavy hitting, but it is loud enough and as clear a bass as I want. So I would reccomend finding a sub amp combo that suits YOUR listen habits(volume, clarity, type of music) Like all speakers, its all preferance.
