It was 2 degrees out this morning. I went out to start my jeep with boxer shorts and a carhart coat on. When I came in side my wife asked what it was like out, I said "a little chilly," yeah, I'm from MICHIGAN!

Michigan state tree is an orange construction barrel and the state bird is a mosquito (sp?). I lived there all my life except for when in the military and the last 3 or so years since i moved here......cant see me moving back.

I really love it my self. I love that we have trees and water, lot's and lot's of water, hills, snowmobiles, and lots of great wheelin. Every time I visit other areas of the US I miss something. As for the extreme winter conditions, you can always dress for cold weather.

Skife,
You forgot one of the most important things about being able to tell if you're from Michigan:

You can use you had as map, to show people where you're from and how far away you are from Detroit.

You know you're from Michigan when the appropriate response to your team winning the championship is duck and cover.

You know your from Michigan when whenever someone says something negative about your state you sigh, agree with them, mumble something about Detroit, and shake your head.
