Thought you guys might like to check out a recent purchase: a Boston Paintball Reflex Trigger. It is from ~1998 and uses a ram to kick back the trigger. Its shown below mounted on my 1997 evolution.

First of all, this thing is crazy. I've owned a bunch of autocockers and NONE shoot like this. I read a review saying it is like pushing down hard on your ABS breaks, and I think that is a good analogy. This gun seems to default to full auto, it really should be called an adjustable FA kit.

This shows a little of how it works:

For those into movies:

http://home.comcast.net/~thomas_mitchell/P.../Reflex_Evo.wmv (http://home.comcast.net/~thomas_mitchell/Pics/Reflex_Evo.wmv) (533k)

Shows slow and fast full auto, as well as switching it into non reflex mode and back again. My comcast server is probably pretty slow so others can feel free to host it as well.

More Reflex info can be found on Firepro's website:

as well as the original review I read here:

These kits have not been in production since ~1999. They were banned by the NPPL for the full auto effect ;)

That is interesting. How hard it is to time something like that?

Ive always wanted one of them.. there freakin nuts. I had an oportunity to shoot one many years ago aside from that REALLY long throw on the ram the thing was sick... literally an RT Cocker.

Many years ago I tried to clone it using two three ways and tow rams , and well it worked but basically was impossible to time prefectly

wow thats nice, how much was it? ive heard about them on AO but never seen one. I was really surprised when i first heard about it, because i had been going to BPB for about a year before i started coming onto AO... in fact that was the first field i ever played at. but one question, PTP patented their pneumatic trigger in 2000, so doesnt this mean this was developed first, making PTP's patent invalid?

as for whether or not they are available anymore, no they arent, BPB doesnt do any custom work anymore, i guess its just not profitable enough. youd have to find one used and i dont think too many people would want to part with them.

Completely different pneumatic trigger. Wouldn't come anywhere near the PTP patent.

but from what i heard, they made the patent as broad as possible and patented pneumatic triggers in general. didnt someone mention that the patent also covered the tippmann rt?

I doubt it. From what has been said [from reliable sources] it's a well written patent to cover what it needs to cover. Possible prior art was investigated and it was deemed that the patent would still stand.

hmmm......

how hard would it be to stick a ram inside the trigger frame on a normal cocker, and split air from the normal ram, so when it cocks the un, it also sends air to the ram in the trigger?
ofcourse, with a way to adjust how much is sent to the trigger ram.......

sound feasible for a home mod?

When they were first introduced, they were awesome. I haven't ever shot one but I saw one being fired in the one staging area at survival one time. I was glad the guy when home early and didn't play that day.

I've had mine for little over a year now and they're not terrible to get "set up" and "shooting" . But I've found that once it's finely timed theres a huge differance in speed .. Mine was way out of adjustment when I got it . Recently it seems like I'm seein more of them too :wow: . We went to the Canobie big game this past fall and actually saw 2 . I was kinda use to havin the only one around ;) . I'd like another one SOOO if anyyyone knows about one for sale let me know :D .
