what do you all think the best investment of $12K would be for a '98+ car, only fwd or awd.

Um, what type of car are you looking for? A 98 Z28 might be had for around that much, if ya look.. hell, I just found a 98 Z28 convertible for 12 grand. Has a bundle of miles on it tho. Or a red Z28 coupe with like 55k for about 12 as well.. but these are rwd.

If you're looking for more of a practical vehicle, 98-99 3-series Bimmers are weighing in around 12g. Autotrader shows a 323ic droptop with 78k miles for 12g. [3 series is also rwd, I'm not quite following your reasoning for needing fwd/awd.. see below] Or newer Protegés are in that pricerange. So are Accords. Blazers too.

You need to tell us what ya want ;)

*if you're looking for a car that will help you out in snow, don't limit yourself to fwd/awd. rwd cars are quite capable, just keep the tank full.

Your going to find a ton of subaru's in that price range. AWD and a fairly good base option load out. Lots of vanilla accords, camry's, jettas ect.

You can also find decent 1500 series trucks for that price range with between 70-100k on them.

Currently own FWD, RWD, and AWD vehicles. Gotta say the RWD will get you where you need to go in snow, but it's not always going to be an enjoyable ride. AWD is the way to go if your going to do alot of winter driving in my opinion.

NOthing to really do with you, lol, but there's a '79 Trans Am with a 403 in the paper for $1500. I would kill for that car. Hopefully I'll go look at it this weekend.

Does he mean Front Wheel Drive or Four wheel Drive?

RWD is a blast in snow, did a 720 in parking lot he other day.

The best investment would be a toyota or honda. Best reliability, best resale. I'd shoot for a 4runner, CRV, or Accord.
