Can anyone recommend a good set of knee pads. Looking for something to go under my C4's for a little more protection. I'm looking at the new Dye pads atm.... Anyone know if these are any good on bare leg? Any brand is good really, but need to A: Go under my pants, and B: be snug yet movable and breathable. Suggestions?

Empire, I wear both empire knee and elbow pads. And as a replacement for slidershorts I wear a pair of cut-off sweat pants, which go slightly below the knee, then I put the knee pads over that, most pads are constricting, the way I do it I barely feel they're on, it's pretty tight.

Other bonus with empire pads is they're pretty big, and won't fall down like others.

I recommend their elbow pads too, VERY comfy and padded.

the j.t. skinz is good stuff. fits nice and stays in place and is very comfortable.

The dye pads have some material all the away around the knee. It has been uncomfortable and twaked things out back there before. Once I was running to bunker someone and a tendon or something got jolted out of place and my leg gave out under me... I got shot.

would that be the new 05 pads or the older models?

I play almost entirely scenario now, so I use the hard shell tactical knee pads. They are easier on the knees.
When playing tourney ball I don't use any knee pads.

Jstorm, next time you go up to CDR's field ask them if you can check out some kneepads, then head to the store, they'll probably let you check them out/try them on.

Not the cheapest, but definately the best.

The flurry knee pads are pretty cool. I always wear shorts and they work great. http://www.flurryindustries.com/protectivegear.html

Those were 2004's but I think the 2005's only differences are cosmetic.

Put another vote down for the Empires. Heck, I barely play paintball anymore but I still use them daily! They are light, comfortable, not bulky, with minimal slip that I use them under my pants when I ride my bike and do some tricks on it.

Empire and JT.... Anyone care to rate dye (and proto obviously) or redz, ronin, etc.?

I use volleyball kneepads that you can get at any old sporting goods store. They're cheap, fairly breathable, hardly ever slide around (sometimes you have to adjust them, but not often) low profile, fit perfect under any kind of pants, and will last 4ever. I usually don't even notice that I am wearing them. Just enough padding to keep your knee's protected, yet remain flexible, and at the same time, not to bulky. Hope this helps.

personally none of us have had any luck with empires lasting very long. Few tourneys and their ripped. Im hearing alot of good things about the new proto line of padds.

Protec knee pads all the way baby.

I know they are not meant to be used on paintball since they are for skating and stuff but they are the best knee pads i have used in my life.

Empire knee pads gave me a very slight arthritis on my knees.

I've been wearing my WTP pads I used to wear when I rode my bike; I wear them more for paintball now than I do for riding. But they are mad comfy and stay put. They have a layer of flexible plastic sandwitched in them.

I have a pair of Nike volleyball kneepads that I wear under my pants. They seem to work fine, and I throw them in the laundry after every use. No degeneration of the foam after 1+ years of "occasional" use. Would not reccomend them on the outside of pants though.

I have dye's, they are nice. However, I sometimes feel like they are a little thin, I slid into a bunker once and a piece of a broken pod ripped through and cut my knee. Blood was shooting everyone, and I bunkered someone with my knee blood...I think I made up that last part, but I still use dye pads because they are comfortable, good elbow pads too, although I use my JT elbows more because I get more "deflections" with them..not that I condone that sort of playing style. no shin guards with the dye knee pads, so you get a little more for your money with the empires. I hate my dye slider shorts, if they turned into a person I would beat that person...too much coffee, must...stop typing. both are good!..

Proto kneepads are good but take a while to break in.
