What fun is it if people know it's fast? :)
It's when you stick a slightly modded Ls1 pushing 375hp into an old RS that you have somthing cool :)

There are quite a few "free" mods out there that should put you above 305 real-world ponies and with some practice, you'll get low 13s out of it. Stock-ish.

A local car board I hang out on has some nasty ls-1s. www.norcal-ls1.com. In particular, the guys as Force Fed Performance are putting turbos on em. Nasty stuff.

Really? Dyno, to the rear wheels? That's pretty good for stock. Most of the guys I know get from 310-335 from SS/WS-6 LS1's. Maybe you got a hot one? One I know of is an 02, and has the LS6 block/injectors/stuff, he got 340 out of it. That car ran 12.9 (once. ;) )

you might want to check out www.ls1tech.com Nice car! And after doing some research I have discovered that some later model ss camaros had a 345hp option package that included a new airbox and exhaust.

Nice ride. I love mine:

1997 30th Anniversary Edition SS w/ LT-1 power
1 of 246 T-top cars with the Level 2 suspension, ARE heavy duty rear, white leather interior, etc.

I plan to keep it showroom stock and preserve its heritage.

Dang Mango, I've never seen an LT1 SS T-tops. The car I was referring to earlier (LS6 block) is 35th anniversary with t-tops though.

LT1 = torque monster

Aha, I just went and asked about 01s with this package. Got the same info. Evo, did you know about the options package, or just get it off the lot?

evo.end3R
02-05-2005, 12:26 AM
i didnt know about the package, i know some guys that have a shop near the place i got it from and they specialize in ls1's so they took a look at it for me. i hate my hurst shifter i gotta get a new one. its alot of fun, i find myself actually driving slower with it than the car i had before. i guess its because of the power, i dont want to lose it, even tho i am a great driver. When playing around with it today, i burned through 1st and second, chirped 3rd, and later down shifter from 4th to 3rd and broke the tires lose, its sick just stock.. i was messing around with a cobra and i wouldve had him but the damn shifter is so gay, i was stopped at a light and he cheated taking a rolling start and i took him in 1st but shifting to 2nd the shifter i have like pushes hard to center(between 3 and 4) so i have to like hold it hard on the left, i dont like it, just makes it easy to shift form 2nd to 3rd becuase it pushed itself over like that :-/ i dunno when ill get a new one tho. Dyno day tomorrow (sat) at that shop i mentioned earlier..not gonna run but theres alot of sic cars gonna be there, ill see if i can get my friend to mee up with me and bring his camera...theres a couple s/c WS6's there spraying pulling 650+ at the wheels..ill see if ican find a camera

Theres an '86 IROC-Z in my cousins back yard(bascially a junk yard because the house is connected to a garage). Apparently some people bought it mad cheap, stuck a 5-speed racing tranny in it then the started died so they signed the title over to the shop. It makes no sense why you would abandon a car because the starter died, but hey, who knows.

According to my cousin the T-Tops leak and the seats and dashboard are shot(mabey that was part of why it got signed over). It's been sitting for a while so it's a sun faded red now. The guy that owns the place want's $900, but I could probobly get it for about $750.

Oh, wicked, where in FL are you located? i can get you stock replacement parts for thaat cheap, its a good deal, staters are cheap so if the rest of it runs and stuff it should be fine. im in tampa so if your close by i can hook you up, and maybe swing by and take a lok at it for you

i was messing around with a cobra and i wouldve had him

If it was an 03-04 he should have had you. Those cobras are not called Terminators for nothing. THey put out about 360hp to the rear wheels and its extremely easy to up the boost stock for stock he should've walked you. At the flywheel they have about 390hp. But you are right ls1's that are on the bottle are pretty friggin awesome. I'd also look into an sts turbo kit the guys on ls1.com have nothing but good things to say about them.

03's and up are boosting but lower years (this was a 99) are not, these are close to stock ls1, ls1 is 1 second quicker 0-100, and about half a second+ 1/4 mile

t-tops leak, paint fades, seats rip.... its all part of 3rd gens.

Seats are cheap and I don't care about the paint that much. The T-Tops leaking is the only real problem aside from some minor motor work(new starter, changing all the fluids, and mabey some other things).

he had kumho ecstra 7000's on it..and was driving it on the street and was talking about racing on the interstate, didnt seem to have any traction problems..he was running 8's 1/4 mile with the tires on it, but thats on a preppedtrack...id still be scared to drive it even if it had slicks on it at the track

speaking of wrx's, i raced one today and i won, and he had a good 5 second head start (2.2 Turbo, not STI)
