Hey all! I normall don't have computer issues, but I have a problem that I don't know the answer to. I wanted to install some ram on my parents computer for them, it is a compaq presario 9200 series. I picked up some ram, but it didn't fit in the motherboard.

The ram chip itself has only one indent on the bottom, when i looked at where the ram is supposed to go, there were two nubs sticking up insode instead of just the one. obviously, it is a dofferent set then the rtam I bought, but I don't know about that stuff. anyone have an idea as to what ram I need? Thanks for any help.

First, throw that damned thing out. Second, you'd need EDO ram. http://www.memoryx.net/copr92me7.html

It's not a Presario 9200 if those are its specs... at least from what I was able to dig out.

Thanks for the help teufel, I'll get in touch with them to see what the right series number is and I'll get back to you. Appreciate it!

Good job forgetting RDRAM which he probably has if he's running a decent P4 system of that age.

Are there two ram sticks or one? If it's two, it's more than likely RDRAM.

There are two 64mb ram sticks. couldn't get ahold of the parents last night to ask them... will try again tonight.
