man they suck then , i think there should be at least i good team using mechs that kick all the electo teams butts , then mechs would be popular again

Well, PPIG uses pumps in competitions (Skyball for one).

Talk to Tyger, he played with PPIG at Skyball 6.

What about that tippmann team? Are they ametuer? But then again I think they would be using e-grips, and ebolts.

Their markers don't even look like Tippmanns after their done modding. Reg, Ebolt / Egrip, drops, Feed systems...

the tipp team dosent shoot mechs

anyway, the "good" pro teams shoot what their sponsors give them, which is usally the sponsors latest electro that they want to sell alot of. I am shure that there are some pro players that would like to shoot mechs, but, they really have no choice.

Ron Killborne (of the bushwackers) does shoot a mech orry sometimes though, also uses an e-orry and karnivore

Tippmann effect is a JOKE. They were a very good team, then a bunch of their plays went to better teams. Right now at LA open they are playing div3 xball, the lowest division. They were a good team then got screwed over when lots of players left the team.

why dont they just stay on the same friggen team ? i could understand them leaving if they didnt git along with another team mate or something , u dont need 44565 shots when it only takes 1 to hit somebody :shooting:

when you shoot 7 bps what are the chances of hitting a body off of the break?get it?

Also it is easier to get more balls when you snap with an electro rather then a mech.BTW i do like mechs alot.

Volume has proven itself over accuracy.

Think about it this why, when the 68 Automag was the fastest marker out, would you still be shooting a pump? It sounds like you would. I love my mechs to death, but I can hit more stuff in a shorter amount of time with a electro.

ugh, It's called money.
Besides, it is a hell of a lot easier to hit someone shooting 20BPS with a trix or a timmy than 13 with a huge m98.

Soopa, how many random, completely un-thought-out posts are you going to make? You need to get a firm grip on reality here; in tournament paintball today, high ROF is important, and fast electros are needed to win.

Players want to be successful, and if they're offered spots on better teams, they'd be stupid to pass it up.

And yes, you do need a gazillion shots a second. First, it's a lot easier for someone on the other end of the field to run through 3 shots a second than it is 18. And that's not even considering bounces and cheaters wiping. Secondly, if you can rain on the other team's bunkers, that means your players can move around on the field, often without being seen. Thirdly, I don't care how good of a shot you are, it's easier to hit someone with 15 balls than it is with 1. What if their head jerks in first? What if they pull their gun back first? You don't know what part of them is still going to be sticking out by the time your balls get to them... more firepower helps, and that's not debateable. If it weren't a big deal, you'd see good teams shooting mech markers... but you don't.

Yea tippmann effect use to be really good. Now the old effect players left and the new ones are the previous team rythm. They're a bunch of little jerk kids who play at my local field. I hate all of them but this one kid. He's ok, but the rest are snobs.

Did anyone mention Total Grief? Didn't they play in a couple pro tournies? They use pump illusions.

honestly, cheating in the tourney scene has gotten to the point where i no longer agree with this statement, i dont think i had anyone come out right away when I 1 balled them last tourney, if i helped em along with 10 or so, then they would get out.

It would be great to see the leagues put a restriction on Electros and make the players rely on accuracy. Not Sprayin' and Prayin'. I'm not saying Electros are not fun though. Yeah it's cool to blast 30 bps, but there really isn't a point. Maybe just to impress people.

LOL if you go to any real paintball turny and bring a mech gun to play with.... its like bringing a knife to a gun fight...

you will never ever see any serius terny player useing a mech. (unless its the rules to play in that truny wich will never happen.)

In a real life turny situation (AM and up) you will have at least 5,000 rounds being throw in your direction in about 2 mins. so within that 2mins of a 5 min game you have to be able to pop out and shoot back in litterly split seconds... the more paint you get out the better your chances of a hit as well as a break.

They did. Sort of. The PSP 15 BPS rule. But ramping is allowed. :(

Nah, more like driving a Mini Cooper in a Formula 1 race; sure it'll go the laps, just not as fast as the F1 cars will.

You make it sound like mechs can't shoot at all with the knife comparison. They shoot fine at 10-15 bps, they just don't typically shoot as fast at the electros can.

Good luck getting a good 10-15 bps, and shooting accurately. Most guys with electros can hardely get 14-15.

i was thinkin though, if they enforce the 15 bps w/ ramping, might someone who can shoot faster than that use a mech? just theoretically...

Higher rates of fire is not a requirement in professional level. It's a neccessity. Just like anything else, there's always a time and place for everything.

It's true that Mech guns are no longer used in tournments. Its VERY untrue on what SkyBoySurfer said. I used a stock Orracle through out the entire GPL season of 2003, and we did fine.

Thanks for proving my point that you don’t need skills to be competitive in paintball, just lots of money for the fastest marker and fastest loaders.

sabrefanpc
02-21-2005, 05:15 PM
its not that skills aren't needed. Quite the opposite. But if you have one team of skilled players shooting at 10 BPS and an equally skilled team shooting at 15, guess who will win.
