View Full Version : Ion size compared to mag size

I was suprised how simmilar in size the two are. So far the only concern is the Ion's trigger, but Im sure there will be a aftermarket one soon enough.
And the rebound mode.....omg, I can see why its called a cheater board. Its freakin fast with minimal effort. The body, and frame are absolutely solid. Not to dis on my mag, but it will scratch a hell of alot easier than the Ion will.

But for the type of paintball I play, I now have two great markers. A sweet mech, and a sweet electro.

just knock the magnet out of the ion trigger, and it instantly becomes preety freaking nice (if you dont know how, there is a sticky in the ion section on PBN)

actually the pull isnt my complaint, ive been using my mag for so long, the pull feels super light. its that it just feels substandard. the rest of the marker is real solid, but there needs to be a nice aluminum trigger ASAP.

for everyone who says it looks plastic, well the only plastic part is the trigger. the gun itself feels really rugged.

i did this, but then put in a new magnet.

yea, the trigger is the only gripe i have on the marker, but now i dont care to replace it, reminds me of a timmy trigger now

I'd put a clamping feed neck on it as well.

The ION owners site (which is currently down) has some nice pictures of one with a clamping feed neck and a stiffi barrel. It also looks like they did a paint job on the body, nifty looking silver tone finish that looks pretty sharp.

*EDIT* User site is back up, here (http://www.ion-owners.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=lastup&cat=&pos=5) is the link to the above mentioned picture.

One week - and the serial number on mine (second shipment went out Wed. of last week) is 3520 - I saw some at the shop with serial numbers of either 27XX or 25XX I forget which.

If anyone ever offers custom bodies (plastic, or preferably ALUMINUM) and a new grip frame I may very well consider the ion for future purchase....provided I can get rid of some of my other guns :)

If all yall want an aluminum body, or a faster gun or whatever, buy a Shocker. The Ion was designed for the beginning tourney player/serious rec player on a budget. If companies start building "private label" Ion's, the price will go to $900, which is out of the reach of the people it was designed for. I would like to see someone make a nice aluminum trigger. :)

Is that what your set-up is like chrono? I've actually been wanting to mix things up a bit. I notice that EVERBODY has the CP foregrip and sometimes Rogues 15 degree ASA. I want to get someone to make me a "karta" style foregrip if I decide to keep a foregrip at all. Something that flows and looks organic like the karta or looks like a slimmer mirror image of Rogues frame. We'll see.... ;)

Soem guy at my local store/field asked to hold my mag to compare it side by side with the ion...

HE was like "Wow, almsot perfectly the same" and I'm all like "Yeah, except mine was designed in 1991.." He laughed at that.
