View Full Version : Can someone recommend a good cheap reg?

I'm putting together an Angel LCD and I'll be needing a reg. Chances are I will *not* be keeping the gun and will likely be selling it. Since LCD's run around 450psi, can anyone recommend a good cheap reg? A used torpedo wouldn't be bad at around $45, but they top out around 500psi and I'm a bit leary of running it that close. Some CP's top out around 300-400 from what I hear, so I'm not even sure I want to chance it. Sidewinder and Stabilizers are a bit out of the price range. Is my only real option here other than a Torpedo to get a minireg? Comments / Suggestions?

You'd be fine with a Torp on an Angel.

I could sell you a "like new black sidewinder" for pretty cheap, like 50.

Pamer's stabilizer.

Maybe not cheap, but it doesn't matter because they are the best.

You can buy an WGP Ergo off ebay for 30$. They are the same as BlackMagic regs.

That's because you said "look into a palmers rock maybe.....there not to expensive, eespecialy used" and the Rock is an LPR. It was in your second post that you mentioned the Stabilizer which we all do know in an inline.

I suggest a Air America Vigilante. They've fallen out of favor a bit these days but are still a nice mid range reg and can frequently be found under $50.

If there is a large paint ball shop in your area ask the guys there if the have any used cocker regs lying around. Most people swich them out for an after market reg so chanses are the shop should have at least one. I got mine for a mear $25. :headbang:

I have a couple, I have a black Dye inline and a chrome Cp.
the Dye is in like new condition, the CP has some scars from being taken apart and cleaned.
they both work flawlessly. I think that 40 for the Dye and 50 for the CP is fair (shipped).

cp for sure.....theyre relativly cheap, 55 new if you know where to look, theyre small, very good performance, and they look good......and the macro fitting is on the bottom....big points for that in my book

Yeah, I'm definately looking for an inline reg, not an LPR :p I'm sure I could get a stock WGP reg, which are actually pretty nice, but I'd rather not inflict the hassle on someone of having to degas and take apart the reg every time they want to adjust velocity.

cra2y86: I think that may be 900psi input though, not output.

I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks guys!

There also the same as all the other WGP regs. I would look for a better reg used, the WGP reg is ok, but at IAO last year when my cousin replaced his WGP stock reg, there was a huge increase in consistency. I'm not a big fan of WGP regs

good to know that someone knows what they're talking about.

How about the WGP ergo reg, it may be a bit more but its still pretty cheap used. Also make sure its not one of the aim knockoffs ergos.
Torbo, the cp doesn't put out enough pressure for an older angel. I had one on my 2k2 angel and for a good while couldn't figure out why my fps wasn't high enough. I used a torp. on mine without problems though.

After #5 it says hp pistons are available. The local tech says they're good for 1000, but I'd say more like 900.

The inexpensive Ergo-regs from Ebay, as mentioned, are a good choice. I've purchased 3 or 4 and the seller always has them in the mail the next day.

Off topic, but I don't want to make a new thread

I'm trying to decide whether I should go with a Sidewinder or Stabilizer on my classic intimidator. I have both, and I only want one. But from what I've gathered, they're both really really good, only one works great with CO2 and the other doesn't.

BL Torpedos top out at 600. They work fine on spyders so they should be good on an angel. As for the sidewinder and stabalizer, thats a tough choice. I had a blazer with stabalizer, loved it especially on c02. I now have a viking with winder and love it. The sidewinders are supposed to be able to take c02 pretty good, but dont quote me on that. I would prolly take the winder if your not using c02.
