Yes I know parts of it appear to be down but here is the deal.

In my naive and novice younger days I made many of the pages and directories in the site layout with capitol and lowercase letters. Some servers are lax on that but some of the tighter ones won't let me slide and are case sensitive. What the heck do I mean? This:

http://www.zakvetter.com/Pages/Paintball/paintball.html <---notice the capital "P" in Paintball and Pages

vs

http://www.zakvetter.com/pages/paintball/paintball.html

When I decided to make life simple and just do lowercase everything on my site, GoLive decided to be rather swine-like and retains many of the old capital mixed addresses. Foolishly I uploaded the changes without realizing it as GoLive said everything was peachy.

So here I am trying to make every stupid link lowercase and most of the site is nonop. Well it's not.. you just have to change the links to make them all lowercase...

Hahaha, I remember doing that back in the day. I also used to link everything by the full URL, learned to stop doing that fast when I started switching servers.

Goto http://www.editpadpro.com/editpadlite.html and download the freeware version of EditPad Lite. Install and register the .txt file extension, then browse your hard drive and locate your web folder that you kept locally. Select all the text files in the folder by "Send To -> Edit Pad Lite" or just drag and drop the folder contents onto an EditPad shortcut on your desktop.

Within EditPad, there is a "Convert -> Lowercase" function that can mass convert the whole thing, then just save and republish.

EDIT ... nevermind, you're one of those Mac people. :p

That is a good idea. I will try and find a Mac version of the same thing. I was hoping GoLive would be smart enough to include such a seeminly desireable and simple function...

Doesn't Nisus Writer have a convert function, or maybe BBEdit?

I have MS Word and it has a "change case" thing in the format menu. It is the windows version, but I would think that it might be a feature in whatever word processor you have for your Mac.

Well I fixed it.. but at a terrible cost... I changed the direcory names and GoLive suddenly got smart and realized that everything WAS in fact lowercase.... but this of course means that every link referenceing my site (for the most part) is not dead.... I would much rather keep the same address but I think this is one of those things I had to learn the hard way... at least the site works...
