Sorry for not being up on current events, but as some of you know, i have been in kansas for school. Y100 was my radio station, i woke up to it every day, listened to it all the time when i was here. I missed it in kansas, where all the radiostations suck. it was my little retreat in radio heaven. and now its gone. I tuned to it today, and there was some rap station. Playing g unit crao. not what i want to hear when i want to listen to my y100.

Can some one please give some insight as to what the hell happened?

thats utterly sad, philly already has like 40 rap stations, y100 was one of the only stations still playing current alternative music.it was one of the best stations i had ever listened to. they threw the best concerts, got the best bands, and the y100 sonic sessions were amazing... its so sad

The company that owns Y100 also owned some rap channel further up the dial. They reformatted Y100 because it has a more powerfull signal. So out with the rock and in with the ghetto fab!

Well the entire music industry is caving into rap because fans of rock music usually just download albums and the only way record companies can still make money is to push rap really hard because rap albums still sell okay. so labels and especially MTV play rap videos all day long, and since most people are pretty much stupid when it comes to music and just like whatever MTV plays, rap will continue to take over and shut down any and all rock outlets and the few of us who still like rock can swap mp3s all day long.

Yea, it sucks. Atleast we still have 93.3 and 94.5.

Down in the Baltimore area Clear Channel got rid of HFS, a y100 like channel. They replaced it wiith a Spanish channel. There was such a huge outcry that they brought HFS back on a different channel.

A LOT of people are pissed, more then you might think. Some newspapers have been running front page articles that flaming the restructuring. I wouldn't be suprised is they bring it back, you can't get rid of the Fez or Feastivles.

I feel your pain bro. On the roof at work Preston and Steve would make the days a little quicker and a lot more enjoyable. Atleast they will be on 93.3 sometime in the next few months. Also, you know 9.45 the Hawk is now 97.5 PST. It's still the same music, just changed stations.
