whats the solenoid socket for?

i was looking thru the online xmag manual when i came accross this page

now, i have my xmag grip open in front of me and i'm wondering what the solenoid socket is for? cos the wires for my solenoid are soldered straight into the board...

They were originally going to wire them into the socket and at some point changed their mind.
