Fellow Shanterballers,

It has come to our attention that Bill made a bunch of statements in a recent interview that lead many to conclude that there would be no more Shatner paintball events and that we didn't make any money last year. I am afraid what you are hearing here is simply not true and as usual people are jumping to conclusions.

First off in the interview (listen to it here) (http://www.thefandom.com/Article28.phtml) Bill says we couldn't do it in the Astrodome which is true. This has made us late on getting something together for Labor Day which is also true. We ARE trying to put something together for the end of the year in a warm place due to this delay.

I was on the phone with Bill YESTERDAY talking about this years event. We ARE planning on making it happen.

The fact we raised 17,000 is only PART of the money raised which Bill with his hectic schedule has forgotten about the rest. We gave an additional $10,470 to the police charity the 100 Club of Cook County on behalf of Mancow and Patrick and Dianne gave an additional 5,000 out of their own pocket of which 2,320 went to Ahead with Horses charity. So all total we raised over 30k for charity from an event with less than 1000 people.

You have now heard it directly from me and MXS who are the owners of Celebrity Paintball with Bill. How about we promote this info across the net as fast as the bad news travels.

Thanks,

Celebrity Paintball

Don't forget Tom, we have to get that money to the Cook County Assesor's office before the end of the day or else the kids lose the church and me and Elwood are back to Joliet!

This is all well and good that they are TRYING to make this happen. BUT........ That doesn't mean it's going to happen.

And still no idea of WHERE, which figures into a lot of people's budget on attending events like this.

Later in the year? Which sounds like it precludes Labor Day.

large events take lots of planning
that being said the date and location should already be set so people have time to make arrangements, not sit around to find out that there isn't enough time to make plans.

SWEET!!!! Now the big question is... WHEN? I have booked a week off for the labor day date, now i need to reschedule, so I NEED A DATE!!!!!!

If it's to be indoors, why not Montreal?

Our Olympic stadium isn't being used for anything else these days.....

Ok, first, get some pics up on the Celebrity Paintball site.

After that, put out some press yourself. Won't hurt.

Bill's cohort can put something on his web site. Labor Day was 7 months ago.
Trips really need to be planned in advance, I have 2 jobs, and while I just get away when I want early in the year, by the end of year, it's just not possible.

By moving south, you miss your major population centers in the US. For instance, Orlando is NOT a major population center.

So for me that's 5 people who probably can't do "later" in the year.

That would be Frank Oz (a.k.a. Miss Piggy's voice)

Me personally I'm hoping for somewhere here in Florida. It is usually relatively warm here in Oct-Dec.

I spoke to Tom Kaye a couple of weeks ago and he said Shatnerball might be held at Challenge Park Extreme again in Joliet, Illinois, if enough people sign up, or else it'll be at the Astrodome or somewhere in California. We gotta get more people!!! I only live an hour from Challenge Park, and I dont wanna drive all the way to Texas in the Fall with my college team.

Hahaha. Funny how everyone wants Shatnerball to be in their area....that's a lot of people to please.

Well, we all know--Tom's the man!! But .... ;)

He'll make this happen and find a good place to hold it at. Hope everyone will be able to make it no matter what! I know I'll be there...

Its good to hear that all hope is not lost, and West coast would work for me. Tom you have seen atleast 1 big game out here in SoCal ( and your team did win so thats good for a few extra points) at JungleIsland, ScVillage is doing there first big game nextmonth and they have plenty of room for a 1000+ players. Who knows the way the lakers played the Staples center may be avalible ;) Alcatraz has been used for scenerio games in the past.

Were ever it happens, and Im shure it will , you guys will get a good turnout so keep at it and keep the true info flowing

I think CPX would be good for everyone since its kind of a more central location then the west coast. Plus it is 45 minutes from my house ;)

What are the odd that Shatnerball will happen this year?

Dayspring
05-20-2005, 10:22 AM
I've talked to Paul Fogel at Skirmish USA several times. JJ Brookshire had talked to Paul about doing Shatnerball there for one of the prior years but the #s never came together. Secondly, there are no close airports and only one hotel that I know of in the immediate area.

That was the problem with the EMR one. Too remote. Gotta find something close to airports and hotels.
