View Full Version : Evil Pipe Front Broke?!?!

So I was cleaning my marker after playing this weekend and I noticed something wrong my my front. On all four sides where the little vents are up front 9 out of 12 of the little bridges of metal between the holes have broken apart and the front part of the barrel is bulged out slightly.

I will try to get some pics up.

Has any one else had this happen to them?

I wonder if I can get a new one.

I guess my super Emag is too much for Evil products. :shooting:

I've heard of the threads getting stripped and damaged easily on Empire kits, but never Pipes. Is that the problem? The threads got destroyed?

Believe it or not, the tips breaking on the Evil barrels is actually a common occurance.

I have never owned a Pipe kit, so this is all off of what I have heard and seen, not experienced.

A) Not an uncommon problem - it happens frequently
B) EVIL has good customer service, call them and they will find a solution you will be happy with - rumor is it is sending you an "updated" stronger tip.
C) No big deal.

Happened to all three of my Pipe Kits. Call Evil. They are very nice and they'll send you a new tip. As Lohman said, you may get the new "Ultra Tip". Basically there was just extra metal left on the tip so the porting won't crack.

Pay a fortune for a piece of tubing, and it breaks.

Actually, from a structural standpoint it's hardly surprising seeing how close those holes are.

So true, the new tip I recieved had a different spacing.
They made the hole spacing larger and the angle they are drilled at is new as well.

But still once you get an RA # from the "talking monkey" it was handled fast and very professionally.

When you say "evil rocks, you're saying PMI rocks, because Evil is a subsidery of PMI. And yes, they do rock. :)

You're right, when you go with the Smart Parts Freak system, you get inserts who's bore doesn't match the size that's printed on them, not the cracking tips. :D

Did you take a micrometer to measure the ID on your Freak? I did. Guess what? The size printed was 110% accurate to the actual ID, so you got a bad kit. Now shut up and stop bagging on SP because you think it's cool. You're wrong.

SP had a large batch of stainless kits recently that were marked in error. The rumor I heard is they were sent, sorted ot the manufacturer, who just marked XXX amount one diamter, and XXX amount another in error. So there are a lot of stainless kits floating around that are not accurate. I have seen them myself - I don't know the reality of how it happened, but SP has said it was an error and a short term one that has since been corrected

Oh. I have the older aluminum kit:). No problems, best barrel I've ever owned. Does anyone remember SP started as just a barrel company? They make great barrels.

Yeah I remember that they were actually one of the first companies to start using aluminum to make barrels. think Armson was first could be worng.

Armson should make a barrel kit, I really like Armson.

Armson should have patented the idea of making an aluminum barrel, then they could sue Smart Parts too...

You do realise that 110% accurate would be a VERY BAD thing, don't you?

If a .680 insert were 110% accurate, it would measure .740.

Well reguardless I am not going to let anything SP touch my 'mag so I am probbly just going to either order an ultratip since i have the backs anyway or get a boomstick. I had a boomstick on my old RT and it never treated my wrong.

Another option is a Stiffi tip for the pipe backs.
