They are worth what people are willing to pay, which is ALOT.

Holy crap yes, Desert Ducks are huge collectibles. They're very rare since only a small amount were made and (I may be wrong) many were destroyed. That one looks as if it is in damn fine condish. Maybe not worth $1k+, but still highly sought after.

I know there is one on Shartley customs. They look really cool and old.

there was on old thread on this... back when i wanted a pistol that was my dream...
but then it would ocst waaaayyyy too much, if i could find one.

so they actually function like a real 9mm pistol, a slide that blows back, and i don't remember but i think the magazine is in the frame... wai mabey not... i don't remember (it was a year ago) but i have shot one and man... they are nice... REALLY nice to shoot.

and it does look in good condition

The 12g is in the frame. If you look at the right side, there is a feedtube holding the balls.

I think the best criteria [to define a rare gun] is a gun that went into production but only had a short life. In my book thats the Desert Duck of which the Slam Change is the rarest with less than a dozen made.

take that for what its worth

yes........ to the high bidder thats the greatness of ebay somethng rare can balloon when someone really wants it maybe hes a collector or maybe he just had one or wanted one when he couldn't have it

If I had the money to spend on that I would, always loved ducks. I heard they were going to remake them, but I do not know if that was true but in any case I wish it was.

I have never seen one in action, or seen one at all... SO I can't imagine what all the fuss is about.

My friend who used to have a PB shop in Brooklyn called "The Flag Station" had an Automag with a Desert Duck body that was custom made by Carter Machine. It was probably the hotest mag ive ever seen. I remember calling Carters and asking the guy who made it if he would do another one for me and getting the "Woa, no way dude, you know how much work it was to fit a stainless steel mag body inside of that thing?"

I gotta see if I can get a hold of pic of that thing. It had an autoresponse frame on it too.

Man the Ducks are so sweet!
The last Duck I saw on Ebay went for about $1500.

In the description, it says that it is a pump and later says it has adjustable output speed ??? $1500 ??? I was drooling over these back in the day, I guess I should have bought one. I don't think my bushmaster pumps are worth near that, albeit I sold one a couple years ago for $250, which was more than I paid for it in 1992.

EDIT: I guess that is what happens when old technology meets the new day... I was thinking of electronic guns with selectable fire rates... Perhaps he means adjustable velocity ???
