Keep that in mind next time you go plinking. And look how far away that target is. You can hear the projectile as it comes back. Scary.

Its scary how non-chalant they seemed.

/at work, no sound

I bet they crapped their pants later when they thought about it. The minute the thing whizzes by, before they know anyone is hit, the shooter says "Alright, we're done" or something to that effect.

A buck says they were shooting M855 ammo from that AR, and that was the steel penetrator what came back.

That happened to me shooting .45s. I shot myself with ricochets twice, in the leg. scared the hell out of me. Thankfully, they only tore my jeans. It was steel plates...I usually wear my gargoyles when shooting anyway.

The closest thing that has happened to me like that was shooting a pellet gun against a tin can, and it ricocheyed somehow and hit my shoulder. Not hard at all, just interesting.

from how you were talking i thought he was gonna die or something, he barely even flinched. and i doubt eyeglasses would have stopped that

Not eyeglasses, but safety glasses designed to take the impact of a projectile. ATSM-28 rated glasses would easily handle that much impact and save your eyes.

Use to get this all the time in the butts at the rifle range. Someone would shoot into the berm and it would bounce off and hit the metal frame on the target carriage. Just about everytime I would have to qualify we would have a freak ricochet (sp?) like that ... nothing like the sound a round going into the berm and then hitting the side of the target and flying around.

Hey, maybe they will lose an eye, and that will make them so unappealing to the opposite sex that they won't be able to pass down their stupidity.

You'd still be attractive minus an eye.

If I lost an eye, I'd still have two.

Roll that one a round in your head for a while.

Tis a bit early in the week for one-eyed Lampropeltis elapsoides jokes, isn't it?
