why is paintball overpriced

I just moved to Albuquerque NM and i went into a local paintball shop to buy some macro fittings, they charged me 8$ a piece for two 90 degree fittings 16$ total. The shop in my old town of Gallup NM sold them for 15$ a piece (im not making that up). Does anyone else have this problem?

they put the prices like that because we still pay for it...why not jack up to price if we are gona pay

I guess I'm lucky. My local shop is not in it to screw people. Of course shops like this make me understand why the Online dealers are becoming more and more popular. I would not frequent a shop like that. And I would let them know that I am buying my stuff online until they come back in check.

My shops awsome. They will beat any price online or what not just not ebay or that kind of stuff. They are pretty sweet in prices. Especially the memorial day weekend sale, i got premium for like rec paint price, go me.

Its just not smart business tactics to mark up a 3or 4 doller item 100%. your supposed to make money by marking up bigger items like guns or paint 25 or 30%.

Actually the small parts is where a lot of the money lies simply because of the higher margins. Markers have a very very small margin.

:rofl: :rofl: I take it you run a business or have some clue about them? As a GENERAL rule your mark-up margins go downward as the price increases. Show me someone actually selling markers above $300 for 25-30% mark up in a retail store. People.. you want clean, well stocked pro shops and fields, there is a price for them. Warehouse space and a website is much cheaper

Some of what you pay for is the convience factor. You needed 2 parts and you had them that day to fix your marker. If you had ordered online you probably could have gotten theme for a cheaper price per item, probably not paid taxes on them, but add some cost in for shipping them to you. Then you would have waited 3-10 days for the order to get boxed up and shipped to you.

The cost of paintball is a very common complaint I hear a lot. Is paintball more expensive now than it was 5-10 years ago? Does a $60 case of paint now seem more expensive than a $2.50 tube of 10 balls? What were the prices of the first semi's that hit the market? If I remember correctly an F1 was somewhere in the range of $300.

I try to buy all my equipment at a local shop. I do this so when that situation comes up that I need a part or a piece that shop has a better chance of still being in business.

Poonjar. Use your local hardware store or a specialty shop. We have the "house of hose." They have been doing paintball stuff for20 years. My local shops charge $5 for USA made elbows & $4 for the china stuff ( seen two china made blow as of late). Paintball overall is much cheaper than it was back when I started. Dont worry no long stories...
