Never really played pump all that much, but I have gotten more interested in the past few weeks. I just bought a used sl 68 from ebay for 49 bucks. Im looking forward to playing w/ it. All I need now is a 42rd hopper, and maybe a 3 oz tank. I dunno, maybe I will just use cartridges cause I have a cartridge adpater. I dont know about 15 shots per cartridge, I dont want to be switching out a lot during the game. What do you guys think? I dont think I will go through more than a hopper in a game. But one hopper is like 3 cartridges, so will it be worth it. I know it will be much more lightweight and easier to move w/. Thats why I got it.

Looking forward to playing pump. :D

If you have never played pump, just toss your current loader on there, buy yourself a 7 or 9 oz tank and go have fun.

lol, a halo B on a sl 68. J/k. I think I have a gravity loader somewhere around here. Thanks. I really wanted a phantom, but I dont have all that much money, plus if I dont like playing pump, then I dont have to turn around and sell it quickly. Im sure I will like it though. Im looking for the challenge mainly.

Thanks MM

I agree. Get a 7 or 9 oz Co2 tank. On the SL 68's it makes a nice shoulder stock. If you want a 45 round box send me a pm. I have one you can have.

cool guys, thanks. Im looking forward to it. Should be here by monday or so. Is there a difference in length between the 7 and 9 oz? or are they just different diameters? I think this is going to save me some money. I have a year pass to this indoor field and its great competition, and I do enjoy playing aggresive games w/ fast guns, but w/ a baby due in about 4 months, after my year pass is up, I will prolly just be going to the field w/ a few hundred balls, and one tank fill. Dont get me wrong though, I will still be aggressive. :D.

Sent ya a PM vonort. I appreciate that, you are a great guy. Any little bit helps. I also just bought my brother a gun for his graduation gift. I think he will really like it. See, paintball is no ending. ;). Its just the beggining for some, and thats what counts right? :)

SL-68 IIs are nice study pumps. Does it have an auto trigger?

I believe that all SL II's have the anti-doublecocking device & autotrigger.

Yak. The 7 is a little shorter than the 9. They are the same diameter. Congrats on the new one on the way. And no problem on the hopper man. I have a couple of them laying around. Have fun with the pump gun.

Barrels may be hard to come by used.New J&J makes them still & I believe Lapco.

Do SL-68's use there own threading or are the threaded like a 98?

warbeak2099

They aren't threaded. They're kinda like a Blazer in that the "threading" part of the barrel is smooth and the breach is tightened down with a locking screw.

lol, a halo B on a sl 68. J/k.

Actually, I have a rico on my SL-68 II w/ a crossfire 68/4.5K. And when people ask me why I have that and not a gravity feed, I freak them out by saying that I can shoot sofast with it that I need the motorized loader. The look on their face is priceless.

I went around to 7 stores in my area and couldn't find a new barrel. The best suggestion I got was to get one if I have access to a mill or a lathe, and shave off the threads. The cocker tech at my regular store that I go to and I were joking that maybe I should go and get a kit for it. You want to talk about messign with a head and getting an odd look. Imagine me on the field with the SL 68, rico hopper, 68/4.5K tank and a barrel kit to boot. We're talkin' one pimped out pump.

BTW Yak, welcome to the world of pumps, I think you'll enjoy the change.

thanks guys. Studawgie. Check your Pms. :D.

About the barrels. I know that countypaintball has them in 12" in for 40 bucks. I will stick w/ the stock barrel for now I guess. I was looking at those 3.5 oz tanks from WWA, and I may get one of those if I cant get a 7 oz from my local field. I think the 9 may be a little bit too long for me. Im used to a unimount and 68ci crossfires on my other guns. I will try both a 9 and 7 first before buying the WWA tank. My friend has a 9oz that he never uses, so I may just buy it from him for about 10 bucks if I like the feel of it.

I will post up some pics when I get it.

I appreciate all the help. :)

well, just went to hope depot today and picked up some things to make a stock tube feeder. I had some copper tubing already laying around the garage, so all I needed was a 90 deg elbow, and a 3/4" coupling. It was easy. I found some hard plastic like the kind of plastic that some paintball parts come in. You know.....the stiff, yet flexible plastic that you get things like grips, etc in. I cut off a small 1" strip of it, rounded off the end put it in between the coupling and my cut tubing. Sandwiched it, slide the coupling over the plastic so that it protrudes into the inside of the tube. Bent it downward to make somewhat of a one way feeder, kinda like a ball gate, only cheaper. :D.

Heres pics of the stuff I already have. not that I will use the stock class loader much, I will prolly be using the ammo box that vonort is sending me, and my mini 9 oz tank. I do however have a 12g changer, and now I made myself the stock feedtube for about 50 cents.

I also picked up some spraypaint. Its a hammered finish gray. I plan on milling off the sight rail on my sl 68 and sanding it, and painting it. I will also put some clear coat on it. I also picked up a JJ 12" ceramic SL 68 barrel. Im ready to rock. Now all I need is the gun.

heres pics of my stuff, I wil post up some when the gun gets here, probably monday or tuesday. Im excited.

I actually lit some one up with an SL once...
I was shooting over a hill and to the left of a tree about 20 feet away with auto trigger. I herd my target call him self out then walk off. It was some guy with an impulse and a yellow jersey. He had about 5-6 marks on him. Thats pretty sad if you ask me.

Actually the fact that a guy shooting an imp got lit by a pump player makes the out all that much better. Also don't forget when that guy told the story, he had to admit that it was a pump player that took him out rather than someone with at better marker.

ok guys. Ive been doing some custom work too the SL. Here are a bunch of pics. Much thanks for vonort for giving me the 40 rd hopper. Great guy. I gave you some feedback too btw. :).

On another note, Ive gotten a jj ceramic for it, and it is a dust black finish. Looks really nice w/ the gun. Ive done alot to this gun over the past few days and here come the pics.

I will have a before and after pic once the finish has dried completely and the gun is ready for use again.

If you are interested in reading about what ive done to it, go to www.pbreview.com and go to the tippmann forum.

see if you can make it more efficient on 12gs. on phantoms you can lighten the hammer, and polish the insides. try to polish the insides please :D
