I jest ordered a 6600GT 128MB for $150 a yesterday but it is out of stock... Now I am having second thoughts...

Is the 6600GT worth the money or is there something better for the money?
I jest play mostly CS:S, HL2, Doom 3, and soon Battlefield 2. Those are the only games that demand a good video card..
I currently have geforce 5700LE and it can handle all those games, but at minimum settings with some lag...
Will the prices drop anytime soon on the higher end graphic cards? Like the x800XL

Another question: Would it be possible to upgrade my memory (512 x2) to 2GB with 2 more sticks?

:headbang:

Well, so far as the ram is concerned, it depends on your motherboard. As for the graphics card, I'd cancel the order if you can. The new 7000 series chipset was just announced less than a week ago and should be in stores in about a month. At that time you could get this card for probably about $50 cheaper.

Yea, and you might be able to pick up a 6800 for a little more. Much better card too.

I would definetly wait for a small 6800 price drop. Much better value IMO, although the card you ordered is a great one and will do just fine. The new 7000 cards just came out, didn't they? If so, that means price drops in the future.

Do not buy the 6600GT. It is an inferior card to the 6800. Get a stock 6800 or ati X800 before going to the 6600, they are $190 right now and are the best bang for the buck and will significantly out perform the 6600.

I have a 6800GT. It is most impressive.

Okay so I will either be getting the 6600GT or the X800.

Is there any real advantage to buying the 256mb version vesus the 128?
All I want is a graphic card that can play Battlefield 2 and Half Life 2 at its best quality. No need for top of the line if the 128 can play the games just fine.

Edit: My motherboard doesnt have a PCI-E slot thing... So 6600GT is my only choice..

PCI-E or AGP?

I think the 6600GT is the best bang for the buck as it is, but if you have modded and flashed other cards than go ahead, get a vanilla 6800. Unlock some of the pipelines by changing the bridging on the layout of some resistors and flash the card. You will get more performance, but it will void the warranty. Here it is in essence:
