I wonder if anyone else has done that.

however freakin awesome that is all I can think is why?

Why not?
Its the fact that You CAN and it works thats the sweet part.

Why do anything ?

Cool idea from a world class tinkerer

yep, like you said, YDNA is a airsmith god

It's like in the mid 90's when the Stinray came out. People said you couldn't put N2 on it because the gun would just explode, plus the tank would cost more than the gun. So some guy did it, and his ray never blew up. :D

as ynda said, the omega was the same deal baisically, and many speculated that gen e would release a mech version back when they owned the design, never happened sadly, but it would have been cool.

Looks like a mag eh?

It is cool that it works, but doesnt it defeat the purpous of an ion? But anyway, thats freaking awsome.

seems to have much more recoil than a normal ion, but, cool none the less, just a "look what i can do/what can be done" thing, but, still cool

He's shooting with one hand. The gun is not as stable as it would be with two.

Pretty cool. I always wanted to do something similar, except with a Timmy.

Just buy a Spyder...............

That's one route to go, and would still be cool. Never put that much thought into. Just "wouldn't it be cool".

You could do this with any electronic marker today. Some would require a ram, such as the EMag, while other could use s 'Cocker 4-way in place of a solenoid.

why would you do it to an e-mag? its already done for you??

You wouldn't. I was just stating it is possible to do a Pneumatic version of nearly every electronic marker made.

It's not as easy as it sounds to do right. Keep in mind, with any Sheridan based design, there are difficulties that would have to be overcome. The most important of these is this:
Consider how upping the dwell of a Timmy or Viking causes the velocity to increase typically, yes?

Now consider the dwell of your gun is now, in most of these potential mechanical conversions... determined by the amount of time you pull the trigger back. This could lead to anything from sporadic chrono readings to the fact if you hold the trigger back you're keeping the valve open and wasting a lot of air. (Actually, even in the parts list for the conversion Ydna indicates that the bolt/bolt stop was modified to seal off the dump chamber...)

That is the one problems with doing mechanical versions of those guns and is exactly why it can only be produced with electronics.

It would be cool to rig up a mechanical Timmy, but it wouldn't be practical or safe and it would require alot of work.
