Well, the laser engraver has long since gone out of business, and even if he hadn't, I'm so damned broke, I couldn't pay him to do the work anyway.

The eye covers are included, but they're raw. The eye components are included for bolt-ons, but they're your responsibility to put together and install in the gun.

These eye covers will only work with ULE bodies, so the Karta/Dallara guys are going to have to live with the LVL X bolts like the E/XMag guys do.

I'm sorry, but I cannot afford to replace a Karta if things go poorly. It's just not worth the risk to the body IMO, and the eye covers won't work with them anyway.

Since the SULE rails weren't included with the full markers like I'd planned, they are not really in any shape to do an eye install on (a lot of machine work to the rail would be required), so they will go out with the eye parts included, but not installed.

If/When I do some SULE rails to sell, I will attempt to cut enough extra to give one to every guy who ordered a full marker. Assuming I have the funds to spend on material and the time to do it. I cannot promise these rails will be delivered in a timely (HA!) fashion, so I am loath to mention them at all, but they were promised to the full marker guys, and I had to go with stock rails instead, so they are owed them if at all possible.

If/When I get the SULE rails done for the full marker guys, I will gladly install the new rail and the eyes on their marker for them.

I figured it better to deliver a 95% product in a few weeks than to extend the wait indefinitely again. At least you can be using your marker while you wait on the rails and eyes.

That's what I've got.

It's not exactly what I promised, but it's the best I can do in my current situation.

UPDATE:

I worked on the Ripper Project some more today

On the left you can see the remaining wire harnesses that are "extra" beyond the pre-order gun orders. The only things missing from these harnesses on the left are LEDs and Solenoids.

The ones on the right are the completed ones for the pre-order guns.

There are (5) "extra" upper boards (one is not in the picture) that I soldered power switches to for parts.

http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo272/p8ntbal4me/Ripper%20progress%20photos/IMG_0825.jpg

Hoping to finish up this project soon! :D

List of things that have been done:

Pre-Order electronics are good to go

I completed 15 harnesses with LEDs
I completed 15 harnesses with solenoids
All harnesses have power switches
All harnesses have daughter boards
All harnesses have battery snaps
All harnesses have capacitors
All harnesses have trigger switches

Dude, is your stomach feeling a little "Sensitive" after having worked on this project? Well, relax. Everyone thinks you are doing a great job. Yes, some are salivating more than others, but that is because we never got in on the preorder. Keep plugging away. Your work looks top notch.

My daughters formula,.... :)

I might as well be drinking it too!

Nah,.. the Ripper project has had its fair share of delays on my end. Mostly due to my winter schedule with my 6 month old here,.. she changes everything,.. but for the better!

Were sooooooooo close,..... I figure the LEDs will be it. The solenoids take no time to do,. and I already stripped the wires for them.

Moving Forward!

I'm mag-less for the first time in probably 8 years.
An A-5 and an SP-1 is it now.
If I get my 2009 PTP MicroMag body and my Logic EM Ripper in the same year
I will be a very very happy fat guy :D

Hang in there guys. I got three of the bolt-ons assembled, and realized I had no idea how to run these new boards. lol So I stopped to read the manual. :ninja:

That was last weekend.

I've been up to my eyeballs in the shop, trying to eek out enough cash on piddly little projects to keep the bankers at bay for another month, so I haven't touched them again since.

They're all scattered out though, so I can't help but look at them, and I will get back on them as soon as I can. It's after 7pm and I just got back from the shop. I'm wiped, and it's been like that all week.

At any rate, they're going together rather well, and I think this is all going to shake out in a favorable manner.

Now, what I need is for all of you guys that have a spot in this deal to PM me your real name and your shipping address, so I don't send one of these things to a vacant lot or something.

I don't even want to contemplate something like that, talk about a crappy ending. . . . .

Anyway, I don't want that to happen, so make sure you PM me. If you include an email address, I will make sure you get tracking info when your stuff ships.

Sorry I was MIA for so long, I didn't get an email that someone had posted.

I have three bolt-on frames 90% assembled (just need to put a battery in them and make sure the electronics work right), and another about half way done.

Going_Home's marker is next after those.

I've been thrashing on odd jobs to keep the bankers at bay, so these haven't gotten a lot of attention in the past couple of weeks.

The delay is entirely my fault, but I've gotta keep the shop out of hock, or I won't have any place to work on them anyway.

Hang in there guys, I'm chipping away at them slowly but surely.

Things have actually calmed down around here, so I am going to make a push on them this week.

I hope to ship at least your marker and as many of the bolt-ons as I can get to in that time.

If paying work comes in during that time, I will have to take it, but right now I'm somewhat static so I'll be putting that time to use on this project.

Sorry for the long blackout, I've been thrashing for weeks trying to find and then do enough work to keep the bankers at bay.

I'm probably going to be in a bind again this month, but all my leads are still dangling right now, and I'm not sure what else I can do to roust work, so I'm going to let it simmer for a bit and then see what next week brings.

I will take and post pictures as I get them boxed up, so you guys at least know something has happened.

Well, the good news is that I found paying work that's kept me busy for the last couple of weeks.

The bad news is that it kept me busy for the last couple of weeks.

I don't want to yank you all's chain, but I'm in a position where I've got to bring in all the money I can, just to keep the doors open.

Because of that, I don't have any progress to report on this project.

To top it all off, last weekend I had a terrible computer meltdown that pretty much put me at a standstill on a lot of stuff until I could get things back together.

I don't think I lost anything pertinent to this project, but if I did I'll let you guys know.

Try not to die of heat stroke out there if you decide to go play.

It's been above 95 degs F and 80% humidity here every day for damned near two weeks.

You know what dude? Take a hike.

The only people who matter are the folks that I owe parts and guns to, ya dig?

In other news, I'm in a big bind here folks.

It is certainly not any of you all's fault, but it does affect you.

I'm basically treading water here, trying to keep my shop. If I don't, the bankers get it, and that means all work stops, which means all other debts go unserviced. IE, I go under entirely.

The problem with treading water is that you are always needing to take in new money to hand out the door again.

This project is bringing in no new money, and hasn't for years.

Again, that is in no way you all's fault. It is entirely mine.

However, the facts still remain the same.

That puts me in a very bad position visa vi you guys. I can't spend the two or three weeks of assembling and tuning that I need to in order to finish up this project.

But at the same time, I cannot just leave you guys twisting in the wind either. That would be a dick move of immense proportions. Far larger proportions than the dick moves I have already pulled (just for clarification).

Thus, I am at a manure covered fork in the road. I have two choices, both of which stink.

Or so I thought.

An intrepid customer who wished to have his parts back to use as a mech marker some months ago (or maybe a year now, I can't recall anymore), recently asked if he could just have the electronics so he could do the assembly himself.

This is another viable option that I had not considered, but which may end this debacle for some of you.

If you feel that you would be able to assemble and program the device, PM me and I will ship you your parts when I send the other fellow's.

It's not an ideal situation, I know that, but if you're able, it would let you get this deal concluded in a somewhat satisfactory manner, right now (as in, just a few days time).

If you are unable to do the assembly yourself and know no one close that could do it for you, I will do it myself, but it will have to wait until I can spare the time. Again, it sucks, but that's the bind I'm in right now.

So that's the update. Nutshell: Broke, Bankers Up In Arms, Working as Quickly and as Often as I can on Paying Work, This Project hasn't Moved since the Last Update, Customers that can do their own assembly should PM me to arrange to have Their Parts Delivered ASAP.

That's where we are.

I only want to hear from people who are included in this deal (those with money in the game, so to speak). The rest of you can take off, eh?

Yeah, it is.

All you're doing is trying to make a bad situation worse.

God only knows why.

You think it's going to make things go any better to have everyone screaming at each other?

It's not.

Have you ever heard the phrase "You can't get blood from a rock." before?

It applies here.

You can demand and bluster all you like, but I can only do what I can do.

If I stop working on new stuff and lose my shop, it won't get these guys their stuff any faster, because I won't have any tools or anything else left to work on them with.

If it's gone, everything stops, and no one gets anything. Get it?

You can be a douchebag all you like, but it's not going to make any difference, except to piss me off, and crap this thread up with insults.

WTF prompted you to stroll in here and dump on me in the first place?

I've never been anything but honest with these guys.

I'm sorry that I am not immune to the bad economy.

Regardless of what anybody thinks of me, we are where we are, and there are very few paths left out of here.

Your choice to hollar and stir the pot is a dead end. It accomplishes nothing.

I'm so glad I've lost thousands of dollars to try and make this crap turn out in some semblance of right, so you could swoop in at the end and go all sanctimonious on me.

You think I don't realize that this project has been a severe cluster since after the parts went off to ano? Seriously.

If I was this big evil meanie that you seem to think I am, I'd have written this all off and walked away long before I had to sink money out of my own pocket into it.

Grow up Beemer. Do you really think talking internet tough is going to somehow change the reality of the situation at all?

Ban me. That's a good idea. That way everyone loses their easiest way to contact me and keep up with my non-progress.

Look man, I am so far beyond caring about what you think or AO at large thinks. I just want to get these things finished and delivered without losing my shop and my livelihood.

Tell you what, Mod type duder, I'll do the assembly right now, in the next few days, and then you can tune them all for these guys when you see them next. How about that? It shouldn't take you more than a day or two to make the rounds right?

Hell, if the guys can do their own tuning, they can have their guns as soon as I'm done bolting them together.

And I am still waiting on all but two or three guys to confirm their addresses. The rest must have given me up for dead.

EDIT:

I have got to stop posting when I am angry. (Like red tunnel vision angry  )

I'm gonna leave it all up there, but I will apologize to Beemer, with one caveat. I haven't seen a post from you for months or years, and then you drop a sarcasm/troll bomb. Then you go all ubermod after you started the argument. How was I supposed to react?

I'm not asking for forgiveness, I was angry and I spoke my mind. I don't take it back.

Teetering right on the edge here man. Best not to be poking me with a stick if you wish this all to remain non-pear shaped.

To All the Guys that are on the Ripper EM Project Pre-Order:

I will be taking on work to help bring this project to a close.

For the guys that ARE expecting complete guns: You may contact me via this thread to turn over your parts to me for a complete build.

For the guys that are NOT expecting complete guns (just a frame coming to you): I will build the electronics and assemble the parts that you purchased from Logic Paintball in order to get your Ripper frame working. You would be responsible for mounting some parts (the frame, ASA, shortening the LPR hose to the length of your rail) ** nothing you couldnt handle if you were cleaning your AGD marker **

This is NOT a free service.

Price for a complete gun is: $35 + shipping & insurance (** insurance is REQUIRED **)

Price for a complete frame is: $15 + shipping & insurance (** insurance is REQUIRED **)

Please understand that I am taking time away from my family to offer this service. I'm working long hours and traveling this year more than before.

For those of you that wish to do the work yourself as Ryan has mentioned,.. that is a route you may go. I have done the electronics,.. all that is needed is to assemble the pieces.

Please note: I will not be offering build help to guys that take their frames rather than have me build it for them. I have to deal with the paying builds first,.. then I can help you out anyway I can. This was a good project for me to be involved with,.. and I will continue to help anyway that I can!

** I will be taking photos of the build and documenting for a "manual" as we go. It should prove to be helpful after the Ripper frames have been delivered **

P8nt is Johnny on the Spot, as usual.

The assist is very much appreciated.

As I said before, assembly isn't a big deal, it's the tuning, and P8nt can tune these things every bit as well as I can.

I will assemble all of them before I ship them anywhere.

I will NOT be tuning or testing any of them. You all can do that, or you can have P8nt do it, that's your call.

As you can see from the time stamp on this post, it is after 4AM central time. This is all-nighter #1, made possible by the nearly completed sale of one of my favorite S&W revolvers.

It took several years, but I had collected up a complete set of vintage Smith & Wesson revolvers, a .22LR (Model 17), a .357 Mag (Model 27), and a .44 Mag (Model 29), all in pristine condition even though they were all built in the late 1960's.

Tonight after my melt down I sold the nicest of the bunch, the Model 27 (at a loss) to buy me a few days (maybe a week) to do this assembly work and get this project behind me.

So I don't want to hear any crap from any Mods about not doing everything I can to finish this project, because I am.

Now, that all said, I still need to hear from everyone to confirm their addresses. I'm not going through all of this just to ship the thing to the wrong house.

Yeah, but if you're still in Castle Rock, you don't need to even do that.

I found my list of confirmed shipping addresses, and it was longer than I'd remembered. Yours was on there, so if you haven't moved since then, you're good to go.

Your box of parts was next in line anyway, so it should be heading over to P8nt's place the first of next week with the rest of the markers he's gonna tune.

Well, it's 4 AM again. This concludes All-Nighter #3.

I underestimated how long this would take. I'm going to need at least two more of these.

On the upside, I now have all the bolt-on frames done.

I also have three (3) of the complete markers finished as well.

I'm going to have some breakfast, and then go pass out.

I now have all the bolt-ons and all of the complete markers done.

That's right, I just have the single oddball bolt-on, spot #10, which belongs to Manwe33 left to assemble, and we're all done.

This one's had the life of a T-Bill, bought and sold all over. I believe it used to be Mobsterboy's, and before that it was Automaggot68's.

Some of these markers now have longer family trees than I do. :ninja:

Anyway, we're about there.

I will finish the last one tomorrow afternoon, and then the ones getting tuned by P8nt will be heading his direction the first of next week. The rest will be shipped to their owners as they confirm their addresses, and then we can all do a happy dance at having finally concluded "The Project That Wouldn't Die" in a more or less successful manner.

At least they all look good.

I'll post pics over the weekend, after I've had at least one day that ends with a good night's sleep.

It is 2:15 AM, and the final Oddball Bolt-On frame is finished.

This concludes All-Nighter #5, and the assembly of the preorders in total.

I will be shipping the markers that P8nt will be tuning on Monday, and then the others that I have confirmed addresses for as I can get them packaged up and out the door. It'll probably take a couple of days.

The others I will ship as soon as I get address confirmations.

I will be posting pics tomorrow (today) or Sunday, as soon as I can get them taken and cropped, uploaded, etc.

While I would very much like to call this deal concluded, I will not do so until the USPS has held up their end of the bargain.

Hopefully they get close to the customer's expectations.

After the preorders have gone out to their real homes, I will take pictures and offer up the remaining parts for sale in kit form.

No waiting, no assembly here, no ano, no problems. Pay the money, get the product.

On the up side, while unearthing all the parts for this project, I have found many rarish mag parts that I thought I was totally sold out of, so those will be going up for sale as well. I've found a few Alpha rails, one or two of the last run UMF's, a Fireblade or two, a couple three brand new X-Valves, and at least one brand new ULE body. I'll get a full list together when the preorders have shipped.

That is all for the evening.

Honestly, I have no idea how to program these new boards.

The only thing you need to do to make it shoot is set the dwell to between 15ms and 25ms.

That's what I used with the Predator boards, but I have no idea if that's going to be the right range for these new boards or not.

I'd assume so, because the solenoids and all that are the same, but you never know.

The LPR must be set at some pressure below 70 PSI. The solenoids will blow above 70, and as far as I can tell, Numatics doesn't stock them anymore, so getting another one will be a three month ordeal having to get it built special from Japan. In other words, don't exceed 70 PSI, or you'll be very sorry.

That's about it.

Obviously, it is much easier to tell you what to do than to actually do it.

My advice is to set the LPR pressure to like 45 or 50 PSI, the dwell to about 20ms, and see what velocity you end up with.

If you chuff or don't shoot, throw a little more pressure at it until it will shoot, just be aware that 70 PSI is the limit. If you make it to 70 and are still having trouble, there is something wrong with the Mag valve, or the actuator needs to be lubed.

You want to use the highest dwell that won't limit your ROF. I'm almost certain that I ended up using 15ms with the Pred boards, but that was forced by their stupid holdoff settings which reduced the ROF artificially if I set it any longer. The velocity was consistent though, so I guess it was fine.

That's the part that is going to take some time.

Set the board and LPR, take some paint, check the ROF, check the velocity, check for shoot down, etc. Rinse, Repeat, etc, until you get it where you want it.

That's how I would have to do it as well.

If you have a bolt-on, you have to swap out the mechanical On/Off pin and oring from your On/Off for the EMag length pin and quad-ring I send along with the frame.

The full markers come with an EMag on/off already in them.

And I do have bolt-on kits and a SULE rail to sell.

There will be a post coming in a few mins with all the Mag stuff I found and am wanting to sell.

OK, after the smoke cleared, I found that had seven (7) bolt-on kits left to sell.

They are unanodized, except for one, which was poorly anodized blue.

Love the color, but the ano shop did a crap job on prep, so it'll need to be redone. At least they didn't polish it to death like some places do. Reano shouldn't be a problem because of that.

Price for each kit is $300 + shipping. They come totally unassembled and unanodized.

They come with all the hardware, screws, orings, pins, bearing, hose, etc, necessary to assemble the frame.

I'll even include a set of grips (your choice, red or blue).

The only thing you will need that I will not be supplying (because I'm out of them) is an LPR. Any autococker LPR with a 1/8" NPT mount will work.

The electronics are all included, and totally assembled, all you have to do is bolt them into the frame. No soldering required.

Two (2) brand new EMag rails with rail bushings ($45 each + shipping):

Seems there is a problem with the valve.
I prefer Jai get it completely up and running (and set on semi) before its shipped.
Let me know whats happening with the bad valve.

I should have known this was coming when I traded spots with Triangle.

We dont even know if the valve is bad,.. it could very well be an item I missed when I walked though the "things to check" lists here on AO.

All 3 valves do the EXACT same thing,.. remove the valve and replace it with anything other than a new one,. and the guns work as Ryan designed them to.

@ Alan: They are all set to Semi,.. and they are fast,.... as in "you wont be dissapointed" fast :)

My concern is me not being able to make it function correctly.
I wanted it tuned and ready to go because I doubt my ability to do that.
I'm at a loss now.

I think our best bet here is to get BigEvil involved, seeing as he's the "Mag Whisperer" and all.

Honestly, I am somewhat miffed that a valve brand new from AGD will not function properly.

P8nt informed me that none of the new valves had the right length on/off pin in them, even though they were ordered with EMag length pins.

Who knows what else they didn't get right?

I can tell you one thing though, we are quickly approaching a time when there will be nothing left to go wrong that hasn't already.

So, by that metric, it ought not be too much longer now. :ninja:

Sear goes to the rear to push the on/off pin in, and it sits in the rear poss.

I have Going Home's here to check out. Not going to get to it until after Xmas though.. If I get it working I will let you know what I did.

Can someone tell me

1 - What the board settings should be

2- what the on/off pin length should be?

On/Off pin should be stock EMag length and should use the EMag X-Ring.

The dwell should end up in the range of 12-18 ms. You can set it to like 25 ms and then reduce it until the marker chuffs or refuses to fire.

The Pred boards used ~15 ms of dwell, but I don't know if the UTB will be the same or not.

$950 later I get a blind non-working gun.

Who said anything about sending out non-working guns?

Lookit, all you gotta do (after BigE finds the proper dwell setting) is program the board and go.

The blindness you are correct about, and I have profusely apologized for being unable to fulfill that part of the deal, but there is nothing I can do about it.

I could have just walked away like many people before me did, but I chose to deliver as much as I was able to.

It's not 100%, but it's a damned sight better than 0%, ya know?

Of course, that doesn't make it any less crappy for you, but sometimes reality "Toad's the Wet Sprocket" (if you catch my meaning).

Here is 3 videos I made that will explain how to work the board. Even though I shot these videos using the VER Frame,... the board functions and programming are no different.

http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2747420#post2747420

Everything you need to know about the board is there. Turning On and Off,.. selecting a fire mode,... and getting into setup menus to change advanced registers.

Like I said in the videos,... really simple once explained.

I have a new manual printed up in the VER thread here on AO. I suggest Ripper owners copy it and keep a copy on hand for the fist year of use. After that the programing should be easy to remember.

I sold the prototype a few months ago, and made the changes to it that the guy notes.

He only paid $975 for it though, so he's being rather optimistic with his starting price, me thinks.

He has the gun in his hands now, it's not coming from me. I am not involved in the sale or listing in any way (except that he's using the pictures I took while trying to sell it to him).

has there been any progress on going home's gun? i think mine has a similar problem. i've tried all kind of different dwell (started at 25 and have gone up and down from there) and lpr settings, and i can't even get the gun to fire once. i'm using the supplied on/off pin and xring, a palmers micro rock,a new un-tuned x-valve, and the tank i'm using is a wgp stratos high pressure. when i pull the trigger the solenoid pushes the sear back and and it won't reset. also the dwell on the utb is adjusted in 1 ms increments right?

thanks for any help

I'm pretty sure this mag got confirmed legit before, but he's claiming it to be an "Electro Pneu Mag." That doesn't make any sense. Does it have solenoids, a battery, a pneumatic valve, and needed tubing all inside the grip frame? If not, how is it an "electro pneu mag?" Is there something more special about this guns internals, or is it just your prototype ultimate mag frame gun?

Yes, it has a solenoid, an actuator, a battery, a board, and LP tubing inside the frame, just like all the rest of the Ripper EM guns and frames.

That gun was the prototype that I built and tested at the very start of the project. It is identical to all the others, save that it has a Predator board instead of a UTB.

It's totally functional, and has been clocked at ~23 BPS with a stock HALO B.

What don't you understand about that?

Read the whole thread before you answer that question.

Well p8ntbal4me spent a couple months on it and couldnt do anything with it.

And BigEvil spent about 6 months on it finding a whole litany of problems
including an issue with the brand new Xvalve (thanks to Tuna for the help on that),
and the LPR was no good, and a bunch of other stuff.

I want to thank everyone that helped to get me a working mag before the 6th year rolled around. :hail:

While I'm happy to have it, the extra $250 it cost me should not have been necessary.

This should have been covered by Logic Paintball and that did make an old guy

I'm very sorry that AGD sold me a defective/untunable X-Valve and that SP sold me a crapped-up LPR (or the anodizer ruined a good one), but I'm having a hard time seeing how that's my fault.

I've accepted a lot of the blame for the crumminess of this project, but not everything is my fault.

Lets see.

He paid for a working gun. In a certain amount of time.

Lets ignore the delivery date issue.

You supplied the parts for said gun from your venders. You should have dealt with the venders if something was wrong with those parts or if your ano vendor damaged a part. He should not have had to go elsewhere & pay extra to replace parts that should have worked begin with. And that your vendors wont warrenty because he was not the original buyer.

Think of it this way. If go buy a new car & the transmission doesnt work who do you go see? The dealership that sold you the car. They then deal with the vendor (car company) to get it fixed. If they made you run around or just left you with a transmission that doesnt work you would be pissed. Same thing here.

You should have done the same. Not try to pawn blame off on anyone who you possibly can.

Jai should not have needed to get involved to get this project to completion. BigEvil should not have needed to get involved to get the gun working. Those two have saved you ass. You should be paying them for their work not your customer.

You supplied the parts for said gun from your venders. You should have dealt with the venders if something was wrong with those parts or if your ano vendor damaged a part. This was the first I'd heard about the LPR being bad at all, since all the others worked just fine. Nobody can fix what they don't know is wrong. But there again, since I'm an awful person I'd probably have just let it be anyway. He should not have had to go elsewhere & pay extra to replace parts that should have worked begin with. And that your vendors wont warrenty because he was not the original buyer. BS. AGD warranty goes to the owner of the marker, not the dealer who sold it to him.

Think of it this way. If go buy a new car & the transmission doesnt work who do you go see? The dealership that sold you the car. They then deal with the vendor (car company) to get it fixed. If they made you run around or just left you with a transmission that doesnt work you would be pissed. Same thing here. And again, the car company would at least need to be notified of an issue before they'd do anything. Same thing here, except that since I'm an awful person, I'd probably have just let him dangle anyway.

You should have done the same. Not try to pawn blame off on anyone who you possibly can.

Jai should not have needed to get involved to get this project to completion. Jai came in at my request, because he knew the ins and outs of the UTB, and I did not. BE came in at Jai's request because neither of us could figure out what was wrong with Home's brand new XValve. They didn't just happen along, they were asked, to finally get this debacle finished. BigEvil should not have needed to get involved to get the gun working. Those two have saved you ass. You should be paying them for their work not your customer. Who said Jai wasn't getting compensated for his work? AGD should be the one paying BE, since their crappy QC is what necessitated his involvement in the first place.

In summary, you can basically take your righteous indignation and blow it out your posterior. lol

I am washing my hands of this project. The only person I've heard anything from has been Home, and that was mostly due to this wonky XValve (brand new from AGD, btw). Everyone else seems to have figured it out without major issues.

This project went poorly, I've admitted as much, and now I am done with it, and shall never repeat such an undertaking again.

Lecture 'till your heart's content, makes me no difference.

At least I delivered a product at the end of it all. That's more than can be said about a great many preorders that have been done here.
